A bill was introduced in the House today that puts ANTIFA, the black-masked wing of the Democratic Party, in the same category as the KKK. This proposed amendment to the Civil Rights act states that anyone wearing a mask to cause discord can go away for 15 years. Sounds like trouble for the kiddies in black hoods and disguises.
INTERFERENCE WITH PROTECTED RIGHTS WHILE IN DISGUISE. (a) IN GENERAL.—Chapter 13 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 249 the following: "§250. Interference with protected rights while in disguise
"(a) IN GENERAL .— Whoever, whether or not acting under color of law, while in disguise, including while wearing a mask, injures, oppresses, threatens, or intimidates any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 15 years, or both.
"(b) RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.—Nothing in this section shall be construed so as to deter any law enforcement officer from lawfully carrying out the duties of his office; and no law enforcement officer shall be considered to be in violation of this section for lawfully carrying out the duties of his office or lawfully enforcing ordinances and laws of the United States, the District of Columbia, any of the several States, or any political subdivision of a State. For purposes of the preceding sentence, the term law enforcement officer' means any officer of the United States, the District of Columbia, a State, or political subdivision of a State, who is empowered by law to conduct investigations of, or make arrests because of, offenses against the United States, the District of Columbia, a State, or a political subdivision of a State.".
Rj Schwartz, did you post this because you support it?
I sure hope your answer is no. Upon reading your OP I had instant visions of the various Sedition Acts, and about a dozen other knee-jerk liberty-robbing legislative reactions.
GA
Do not answer a knock on your door Halloween night with a mask on!
While I could perhaps support what I think is the intent behind this, I don't think it is very well thought out.
RJ , You will never get the left to directly comment to the negative aspects of their party followers . Their promoters of party violence ?
The left will forever stand wringing their hands in denial of party violence then openly promote and then excuse their party's direct involvement in Antifa for one , campus and street riots for others .
Hypocrites .
Well thought, or not, I cannot help but wonder what purpose a mask serves. It's like the jihadists who behead people, the KKK who are too ashamed of their behavior to let their neighbors see who does it.
If you can't show your face while protesting, what are you hiding?
Your identity, so that when you turn to violence you remain anonymous. (Why do bank robbers wear masks?)
Exactly. And, I would remind those concerned about too much government control over our freedoms that the goal of the current masked protesters appears to be about their desire to assert control over our freedoms; and to raise the power of the government to continue that control.
Communism is the most violent and deadly ideology in the history of the human species. And communists terrorist operating within our own borders is completely unacceptable. We've got prisons for persons like that, and I'm all for using them.
Lets lock up antifa in for profit prisons. The irony would be poetic, and just.
No one , other than for the protection of law enforcement people , should be allowed to wear a mask at any protests !
Especially Not Antifa .
I have said many times in the past in different forum threads , America is on a path to less law enforcement , softer on crime prosecuting and much less punishment for crime. Recidivism in America is responsible for most crime as it is .
This is evident in all western societies , partially because of the belief that "punishment for crime doesn't work ". Given the first amendment protection , organisations like Antifa will be the norm rather than the exception in our future .
What we might worry more about is when the opposition forces mask up and confront them in the streets . Not the police but the ideological opposition .
ahorseback, what do YOU want for America? Please TELL us!
What I want for America , for one , Is an unchallenged right to gather and protest on the streets anything in the political spectrum by anyone , PEACEFULLY but the very moment that you allow a masked activist organization like ANTIFA or similarly the KKK where a man can hide behind his responsibility to be a decent human being , you allow mayhem , destruction , chaos and mass anarchy in the streets.
Remove the masks and march to the end of time but if you allow the wearing of masks you allow the worst of man's behavior towards others of his own culture , his own society .

Now wait... It's a simple question prompted by a current read J. Edgar Hoover - The Man and The Secrets by Curt Gentry, and it chronicles Hoover's FBI up to his death. It is very cynical, relative to FBI leadership and its unfettered actions. By unfettered I mean wherever Hoover ran into an...

Is Arizona’s new immigration law racist and should they be boycotted?I believe it is a racist law and may lead to not only those who are ethnically Hispanic being treated unjustly, but all people that do not fit Arizona’s white Christian population. And they should be boycotted, it is just a racist...
