"Sixty-one percent of Democrats take a positive view of socialism—and so do 25 percent of Republicans.

Contrast the millennials' opinions with those of their parents. A survey last year found that only 26 percent of baby boomers would prefer to live in a socialist country. Among young people, the figure was 44 percent."

    Really?

I think capitalism (at least in its current form) is unsustainable from both a socio-political perspective, and an environmental perspective.

I think young people are more aware of this than any previous generation for lots of different reasons.

In my opinion, socialism is preferred by the indolent.

    Stolen from another thread:

    "Q. What contributes to strength?
    A. Joy of life.

    Q. What gives joy of life?
    A.  Free Will.

    Q. What takes away free-will and self-determination?
    A. Socialism/government over-reach." KHL

      Capitalism vs Socialism

Why not combined Capitalism and   Socialism, like ice cream and chocolate. It has worked best so far in the happiest countries.

        No.

Maybe it has worked in countries where the people don't mind high taxation. Usually small little countries.

Government overreach must be avoided at all cots in a large republic such as ours. Let each state in the union keep its autonomy.

Our system is fine. We need morals and goodness. Not the punitive measures of socialism which include loss of freedom and outright despotism.

Someone once defined insanity as trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
    Sounds like Socialism to me.

Actually, that sounds like a perfect definition of our FAILED republican capitalism system where a few continue to rake in trillions with the assistance of Bozo Trump and republicans who just gave trillions of our money to the richest among us, while the rest of us continue to wallow in slavery to our jobs limiting or freedom to live a more productive and happy life:

Can you substantiate any of the things in your statement? Just go for one. If you can substantiate one thing you posited in your statement, with anything, anything at all, then you'd have at least made an effort at stating something factually. You'll fail, of course, but you must try!!!

Apparently some prefer to disseminate lies and falsities. Karma will be had. Don't worry about the Tiny Tims who frolic in the tulips with bad sounding ukuleles.

I don't think supporters of far-right extremists have much to say when it comes to factual information do you? Perhaps they should examine their own morally bankrupt worldview before casting aspersions.

Wesman: Here's a shocking fact directly related to your beloved failed republican capitalism: This is hard and disturbing to even read but here you go: This is how corporations repay the United States after they rape and pillage the USA and her slave workers year after year instead of giving Americans a raise, and it has gotten substantially worse under Bozo Trump:

"U.S. corporations now hold a record $2.6 trillion offshore, a sum that ballooned by more than $200 billion over the last year as companies moved more aggressively to shift their profits offshore, according to a new report, Fortune 500 Companies Hold a Record $2.6 Trillion Offshore, released today by the Institute on ...Mar 28, 2017"

WHY are corporations under FAILED republican capitalism shipping trillions of OUR wealth to foreign lands for their benefit instead of giving employees a raise or comprehensive health insurance or 401K savings plans???? Are they entitled to take from the USA and NOT give anything back for the benefit of the community?? I don't think so:

In America, We The People have the power, whether they choose to exercise it or not. For you to keep acting like we don't, is to contribute nothing to the enlightenment of our citizens, especially the poor Millenials who are being left in the dark and out the cold in regards to the truth.

        Thanks for NOTHING!

Freedom within boundaries. Its not that hard, if everyone would get on board with The Golden Rule.

Rich people need to control themselves.
Thats the real problem: Human Greed and excessive ambition.

The President of the United states must hold the officials and leaders in govt. and bankers on Wall Street accountable and must prevent and punish them from breaking the laws ... which they do. If Trump won't do it, someone else will. We must cultivate,  find and vote for that person.

To loose what we were given by the founding fathers and God himself would be a disaster,

    which is a severe understatement.

The Tea party was fought over 3% taxes. You think the founding fathers would approve an 10 to 15 times increase of thief in taxes today.

European wanted to get away from the ownership of kings and Religion. No word of God mention in the American Constitution. Like anarchy for individualism with more rules well written down.

All changed after the civil war then the emergency war act supported Corperationism. then the new Gods and Kings make the golden rule. Who owns the gold, makes the rules.  It was taken beyond capitalism and socialism to the owners of the few again.

Today the gold and Constitution is destroyed. There will be a new super power in the 21st century and it will no longer be America.

No. We are destined to prevail. We will learn from our mistakes and we will evolve and revolve.
        as in revolution ...

and not de evolve into socialism, tyranny and darkness.

I don't see the writing on the wall or a better plan. I do see some individuals improving, just not enough to stop the grand abuse to hit the fan.

... and why do we allow people from other countries who are not even citizens to come and buy land?
We need to address these issues.
And with our Constitution and system, we can.
