James Livingston, a professor at Rutgers, faces termination for a 'racist' rant against white people. He's white.

I don't know whether to laugh, cry or throw up my hands in disgust. Certainly, his choice of words and manner of presenting his case against his own race living near him were unbefitting of a person who claims to have been the recipient of a higher education, but come on. Is he targeted because he is a white guy?
I've read, probably, hundreds of comments promoting racial hatred which are defended by universities, media outlets, etc as acceptable. Why choose one to stand against? What makes his rant particularly punishment worthy?
He claims he was ranting about the gentrification of a low rent neighborhood he lived in. Poor word choice. Pathetic way to attempt to make a point. Taking it out on kids, complete ignorance. But, if someone such as Sarah Jeong (with little to no proof to back her claims) is given a free pass....one has to wonder why Livingston could lose his job over less comments made during a much shorter time period concerning his dismay at the gentrification of his low rent neighborhood.
Are we to assume the color of your skin determines how hateful you are allowed to be? If so, then I ask. Does society simply assume white skin is a mandate to be more civil and considerate? Isn't that racist? Or, does expecting more civility from one group than another point to other things? What criteria are we using to define the parameters of acceptable use of freedom of speech, for the individual?
It's really quite amazing that such high levels of intellectualism as those dwelling in the Ivory Towers can be so blatantly shallow of common sense intelligence , book smart ? Yes but obviously completely lacking of any real sense of common knowledge .
And YES , there is such a thing as "common sense ", the same with " common knowledge " , I believe that such ideologically contained places and homogenized people there aren't anywhere near the level of "main street America ". They are too insulated from real life AND guess what ? THey are the ones teaching your kids .
His main complaint was rooted in gentrification, which results in raised rents which displace the indigenous population, which he felt a part of. An ignorant way to complain about it, admittedly. But firing worthy?
Yes , She's a liberal, otherwise no need to be held accountable and perpetually employed.

Video surfaced of Rutgers Coach Mike Rice physically abusing, berating with homophobic slurs, and throwing basketballs at his players in practice. How would you react to this if one of the players were your child? The University knew of the abuse and suspended him before, but nothing changed. DO...
