Why is Bob Mueller Resisting Speaking to Congress??

Bob Mueller "officially" retired as Special Prosecutor in a 9 minute long, cryptic message to America.  He indicated that he will not be available for questions, either from reporters at the press conference, or Congress in the future - he instead redirected everyone to read the report he submitted.

The problem with the report is that it's vague and leaves more questions than answers in most people's minds; regardless of political affiliation.  At this point, both Democrats and Republicans are getting more vocal about him coming to Congress under oath and answering hard questions about investigative techniques, vague passages of the report, timelines, his relationship with AG Barr and if Barr's characterization of the report was accurate, and so many more.

One theory as to why Mueller is unwilling to testify is that he was only a figurehead in the investigation and cannot answer many of the questions (his subordinates on the task force may be better able to answer them).  There are currently 51 Democrat members of Congress who so desperately want to impeach the President and they feel Mueller has the evidence they need.  Those on the opposition want to know why it took 22 months to complete this investigation when the full power of Washington was behind it - specifically the Republicans want an answer as to when Mueller knew there was no collusion with the Trump campaign, but avoiding a collusion investigation into the Clinton campaign.

Also the dossier was not mentioned as expected; since it was the basis for the investigation some want to know why it wasn't at the center of this report.  Bob Mueller had 22 months, $30 million, 19 lawyers, 40 FBI agents, 500 witnesses, 2,800 subpoenas. and yet there are still unanswered questions - perhaps he was the wrong man for the job?

Will Bob take the high road and answer every question with a canned answer? "see the report" and if he does, how will that be interpreted by the average American?  Will he appear partisan?  At this time, no one is sure what will occur, but the volume on the DC rhetoric is certainly on full blast with no signs of stopping.

Hi RJ. I hope you are just tossing those thoughts out to stimulate discussion, and not that they are your own.

I have seen no evidence that the dossier was what prompted the start of the investigation. I have seen a lot that says it wasn't.

I don't think the Mueller report was vague, I just think both sides are looking for answers to support their position that weren't in the report.

I have the impression that the politicians and the public wanted, (and are demanding), a reality show investigative process along the lines of Desparate Housewives... or the Kardashians. A day-by-day drama. Maybe we could call it The Collusion Saga. They want to follow and critique the minutia on a day by day basis.

I think the report was conclusive and comprehensive. I think the message of what it said, and what it didn't say, was clear for everyone to see. They could say they didn't find collusion, (ok, conspiracy for you sticklers), and they couldn't say there was no obstruction.

Now, folks want to critique the roads taken to reach those conclusions. That is not how it works. I don't think Mueller should testify. I can see a million "Yeah buts.." that would lead to a never-ending process.

I think Mueller will testify before Congress because there's so many loose ends left dangling. Mueller was stonewalled in some of his attempts to investigate the collusion issue because documents were missing and witnesses were not forthcoming, And this is just one thread..
