So for now, the gerrymandering going on in several states by the controlling state party can continue to draw up districts favorable to their candidates, Do tell...

I don't see why not. It has been done for years to create districts for blacks and later Hispanics. When I was in aviation, providing private jet charter services, Congresswoman Corinne Brown was a regular customer. You should have seen that district, since changed, that ran from the black neighborhoods in Orlando and Sanford all the way up in a narrow band the width of a highway in some places to encompass the black neighborhoods of Jacksonville 140 miles away.

Unfortunately, those who even know their history continue to repeat it. I remember reading about Latin America. Why has that region continually had revolutions in almost every country? You were either the power elite or those who serve the power structure. The continuing theme in that region has been to deny access to the halls of power for the poorest of the populace. In our nation, we need a balance because without the poor, women, minorities, etc. obtaining access to the halls of power we will be setting ourselves up for such a scenario. How to make it fair? Well, that's beyond my pay grade. It's an old issue and it will always test our resolve as a nation.

That was attempt to keep the black voters in a few districts which they'd be likely to win while the white votes were focused in more districts they'd win. In this way the majority loses their impact even though they make up more of the voters.

I don't like the decision, but I am not sure it wasn't the right one.

This seems like a state problem that should be addressed at the state level. I think I heard a blurb that 21 states have already taken redistricting out of the hands of politicians.

I am not qualified to second-guess the court. Even if I don't like the decision.

Gerrymandering is ugly regardless of who's doing it.  As I understand, there's a tendency for this in states that are strongly controlled by either party.  Democrats used gerrymandering to keep their choke hold on Florida until demographics passed them by.

I haven't reviewed details of this decision.
