what? are these not provable?
1. Obstruction of justice.
2. Violations of the Foreign Emoluments Clause and Domestic Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution.
3. Conspiring with others to:
(a) commit crimes against the United States involving the solicitation and intended receipt by the Donald J. Trump campaign of things of value from a foreign government and other foreign nationals; and
(b) conceal those violations.
4. Advocating illegal violence,
giving aid and comfort to white supremacists and neo-Nazis, and undermining constitutional protections of equal protection under the law.
5. Abusing the pardon power.
6. Recklessly threatening nuclear war against foreign nations, undermining and subverting the essential diplomatic functions and authority of federal agencies, including the United States Department of State, and engaging in other conduct that grossly and wantonly endangers the peace and security of the United States, its people and people of other nations, by heightening the risk of hostilities involving weapons of mass destruction, with reckless disregard for the risk of death and grievous bodily harm.
7. Directing or endeavoring to direct law enforcement, including the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to investigate and prosecute political adversaries and others, for improper purposes not justified by any lawful function of his office, thereby eroding the rule of law, undermining the independence of law enforcement from politics, and compromising the constitutional right to due process of law.
8. Undermining the freedom of the press.
9. Cruelly and unconstitutionally imprisoning children and their families.
10. Making and directing illegal payments to influence the 2016 election.
There is little doubt (to Democrats) that Trump is guilty of impeachable offenses. And that they have a duty to impeach him.
But. It is not politically smart to do so and such an action may cost them politically, so they will ignore their duty and do nothing. Politics before law, always.
"The President must be held accountable under the law, through the impeachment process, for these serious violations and for this unprecedented level of corruption of the Oval Office." (From the link above.)
So go for it, already!
Why not?
Nancy is playing politics instead of doing her duty, just like Mitch. Imagine that.
I'm not sure what Nancy's motive is, but any fool can see that if Pence became president, he would have a much better chance of winning the next presidential election over the democrats than Trump. No democrat with any sense would want to chance that. Sometimes it's better to suffer a little in the short run than instant gratification.
That is a thought I would not have considered; that Pence would have any chance of winning a presidential election.
I don't mean to beat-up on the guy, (I don't really know much about him), but my impression is that he would still be where he was before Trump tapped him for VP if he hadn't been tapped for VP. I just can't get a mental picture of him as a viable presidential candidate.
GA
A lot of folks felt the same about Little Donnie, Gus. How about the NYT article reporting a big party at Mar A Lago with Epstein and Trump being the only two males among more than two dozen concubines....I mean young ladies...celebrating their affluence in Palm Beach?
What a true Xtian!!
Well, since you don't mean to beat up on the guy, I'll help you out. ;-)
Any modern man in a modern workforce who refuses to meet one-on-one with a female coworker does not need to be elected to any office, much less VP or President.
oh the bumps and bruises . . .
What do you think of the Amish societies?
GA
Do they bury their wive's menstrual aids by the light of the moon as Pence does, Gus? Or did?
That's gross Randy. Where did you see that he did that?
GA
I don't know much about them, other than they live simply without modern conveniences. Why?
Cultural beliefs. Not the wacky ones like Randy's offering, but the religious and cultural ones where a man believes he shouldn't meet in private with a woman alone. (In this day and time that could be an impropriety self-protection measure)
The Amish also have a similar perspective. By old Italian, (or Sicilian), custom it is also improper to do so.
Do you have the same opinion of their cultural beliefs as you do for Pence's?
GA
I believe that refusing to meet alone with a woman in the workplace is gender discrimination.
Witnesses can be very nice. Especially when impropriety is claimed after a meeting alone with a woman.
Given the "Me too" movement it seems smart, not discriminatory.
What if a female doctor refused to be alone in a room with a male coworker or patient for fear he might assault her. Okay with you?
Some states have laws that require a female nurse in the examining room with a male gyn and a patient. I believe my state still has one.
Well that is your choice. I disagree. And even more than just disagreeing, I think your perspective that it is gender discrimination is in ignorance of the times.
Given tody's attitude of "gender discrimination" and the #metoo movement, and etc. etc. etc., if I were in a position of power I would see Pence's position as simply self-preservation.

Given today's atmosphere do you really believe it is gender discrimination? I sure hope not, because I don't think you could be more wrong.
GA
Yes, because men are so afraid of being falsely accused they can't be alone with a female coworker while women have had the courage for decades to be alone with a male coworker who might assault her.
Got it. Men are delicate creatures.
What part of that explanation indicates men are delicate?
GA
It's a good thing you two have fence between you....
But it's not between us. She can reach me on the post. Already knocked me off a couple of times.
GA ;-)
Yes, she is firm in her beliefs. I suspect your right buttock is still heavier than the left though.
Ha! You don't know how right you are. But so wrong in your reasoning. I lost half of my "left" buttock to surgery due to necrophilia fasciitis. (seriously, I only have 3/4 the ass most folks have. When I sit in a chair I have to make an effort not to tilt 'left')
It's a cool story, complete with a year with a colostomy bag. For that year I had two of something most folks only have one of -- assholes. (somebody stop me, I'm killing myself with laughter, but it's all true)
Now, don't you feel silly . . .
GA ;-)
That explains a lot, Gus! Ouch!!
Can we assume you're giving "half assed" opinions? Sorry, couldn't resist..
Don't apologize, I have said the same thing about some of my opinions myself. ;-)
GA
YOU SAID:
"Given tody's attitude of "gender discrimination" and the #metoo movement, and etc. etc. etc., if I were in a position of power I would see Pence's position as simply self-preservation.

Apparently, "yesterday's atmosphere" was such that men didn't have to worry as much about being accused, falsely or otherwise, because women were rarely believed. Is that a correct assessment in your view?
In the"current atmosphere" women are taken more seriously. Is that correct in your view?
So, in "yesterday's atmosphere " women often did not report sexual harassment or sexual assault in the workplace because they often were not believed and were also further discriminated against because they spoke up. Is this a tfair assessment in your view?
If so, in "yesterday's atmosphere" it would have been perfectly reasonable for women to refuse to be alone in a room with a man in the workforce to avoid being harassed or assaulted. Do you agree?
Would you consider it reasonable for a President Elizabeth Warren or a President Kamala Harris to refuse to be alone with a male Vice President or a male Secretary of State? Would you consider that to be an acceptable policy for a female president? I wouldn't. I would consider that to be gender discrimination: operating on the assumption that every male is a potential predator or false accuser and can therefore be treated differently merely because of his gender.
Hmm . . . maybe you are right, gender discrimination might not have been the correct word choice in my response.
Your descriptions of "yesterday's atmosphere, (except for the last one - in that one the woman would probably have been fired), seems fairly accurate to me. Were your descriptions a perception of how I would see it, or could they also be a way you too would describe it?
Do you not think your descriptions illustrate the reality of the times,
or at least a commonly held perception of the times?
Perception may not always reflect the truth of reality, but it is too frequently true that perception is taken as reality.
Would my presentation in previous responses indicate a perception of the reality of today's times? Of course, it may be debated that my perception is an unprovable and false one, but I am suggesting that it is the perceived reality of many men in "today's times."
GA
They, in some ways, are a very sexist society. In other ways, such as allowing their children a custom called "rumspringa" they are very liberal.
I'll agree with you, but does blind support of President Trump make sense either. I think many Republicans lost their marbles in 2016. Trump and Acosta should be on their way out right now.
If Trump were to be impeached, Pence would become president unless he happened to be found in collusion. That would make him an incumbent in 2020. Incumbents usually have better party support, and thus have a greater chance of winning.

Now that the Trumplicans in the Senate abdicated on their duty to hold a fair trial and voted to let Donald Trump remain in office, did that mark the end of our democracy as we know it?Consider:1. There isn't a thing a president can do that will warrant removal if the Senate is made up of a...

Today, September 24, 2019, for only the third time in American history, the Speaker of the House announced a formal impeachment inquiry into the actions of a President of the United States - Donald Trump. (Nixon would have been the fourth, but he resigned before it was over.)- Johnson's...
