John Bolton just announced he'd testify before the Senate if he's subpoenaed. This puts McConnell in a bind as far as not calling witnesses is concerned. Your thoughts?

Hmm... this could make a difference with a few fence sitters who are not head first in the Trump bucket of dung. I wonder if the Dems could get the SCOTUS, or at least Chief Justice Roberts to force McConnell to allow him to testify. Roberts is conservative, but I think he may pull the trigger on something like that for the sake of his place in history; if it's possible.

The Senate only needs a few Republicans to vote for witnesses and documents to override Mitch's agenda for closing the trial down. Some of them are already questioning his "sweeping of evidence under the rug" to protect Donnie from his just deserts.

We can always hope that a few of them grow a pair.

I'm sure Trump defenders are itching for Bolton to testify  under oath so he can put to rest any doubts whatsoever that Trump's actions were motivated by nothing but pure, selfless love for his country.

I bet they are flooding Mitch with phone calls and emails telling him to subpoena Bolton, prove Trump's innocence and make the Democrats look like fools.

      Poor Mitch.

It certainly seems that's how they should think. In reality, half of his supporters will just say Bolton was paid off by the libtards or some such craziness, and the other half just don't care if Trump brakes the law. They say things like "So what? They all do it." With absolutely no evidence to support it.

Yes, they'll claim Bolton simply "hates Donnie" and accuse him of lying about the cretin. The Right does not want to hear from Bolton and will try evertyhing at their disposal to prevent him being heard. Watch and see...

Oh yeah they will. It's always a safe prediction that the R's will cover for Trump. But, I'm also confident that the more trouble they must go through, the more that average Americans, who pay not much attention to politics will be scared away from Trump. I think Nancy is playing the whole thing out pretty well so far.

Nancy is playing Trump like a fine Amati. He's so outclassed by her it's not even close to being an even contest. My prediction is he'll exit in shame and misery with his reputation--as bad as it already is--listed as the worst possible choice for a leader in American history.

And his enablers worse than him...

Well Sandy, Donnie's HP enablers don't seem to have an opinion on Bolton's testimony before the Senate. Wonder why?  tongue

They're waiting for someone to tell them what to think.

Shar previously stated she wanted to hear from everyone: Bolton, Pompeo, Mukvaney, Giuliani. Imagine all these fine fellows testifying under oath that Trump.did nothing wrong....the Democrats would be crushed and Trump would be vindicated. Trumpeters should be dying for all of them to testify and clear Trump of this witch hunt once and for all. Heck, a setback that devastating would doom the Democrats for a very long time.

Yes, but they're exactly like their role model, Sandy. Trump claimed he was anxious to sit down and answer questions from Mueller as well.

They are fearful of what they don't know, and don't want to know. I feel a twinge of unearned sympathy for them. tongue

Wait, wait. You said I was an enabler, so I will offer an opinion.

I have no problem with Bolton testifying if the trail includes witnesses.

Republican senators are fumbling around for answers to the question of allowing Bolton to testify. Of course, the House can subpoena him today if they want to. I hope Nancy takes this opportunity to allow Americans to see what Bolton has to say about the Ukraine deal as we may not get to hear from him if McConnell gets his way in the Senate.

Me too. I know her stated reason for not turning over the impeachment papers was to force the Senate to make a deal as to calling witnesses. But, she may have also known that Bolton could make this decision to testify soon.

I read where Bolton was asked if he would testify before the House and he dodged the question. So, why the difference? Is it because he knows McConnell will never allow him to testify before the Senate anyway?
