Ok, I have to give him that one. That was good.
The data is coming in and it appears that sending a clear message that the US is immigrant-friendly again is one cause of another round of crisis at the border. Other causes for the data could be quicker deportations and repeat attempts, as well as the two hurricanes that slammed Central America in recent times.

Of the Trump policies, the remain in Mexico policy while your asylum case is processed seemed a humane and correct decision.
I disagree with the wall, based on cost and environmental issues, and separating families was a human rights violation of the highest magnitude.
But I'm definitely not for the catch and release policy - and there should be a law that states that if you are caught illegally crossing the border, that automatically bars you from asylum or ever being granted citizenship. First time gets you the ban, second time gets you prison time, third time they make you work at Mar-A Lago.
I am going to be very honest... Shockingly honest
Illegal immigration has been a problem for decades. Some say we have literally 20 million or more illegal immigrants in the country already. Hard to tell if it is causing any real economic problems or social problems. I would guess a flood of low-wage workers could result in competition with American's that work at low-wage jobs. It is apparent there is a need for low-wage workers. I do hope numbers can be somewhat controlled.
I have given up on the problem, and look at it as a problem that has been here for a very long time, and won't be handled until it really becomes a huge problem. It does not affect my life, so I will tuck it away and let the Government have it. Seems futile to worry about a problem I have no control over. And I think Trump does hire H-2B visa workers to work at his gulf club.
Thinking back a few years to southern schools that had to prohibit flying the American flag by American students, I'd say there were some cultural problems.
Best estimates are that it costs the country somewhere around 10B per year to support illegal aliens...I'd also say there are economic problems as a result.
A couple of interesting links:
In this link, it can be noted that border apprehensions have not even reached the highs that the country saw in 2019. I forget, were we calling it a crisis back then?
https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2 … ing-again/
In this link, it's important to note that of the 96,000 encounters in February of 2021, over 70,000 were expelled to country of last transit or home country due to Covid concerns.
https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp- … statistics
And the rest of the story is that southwest land border encounters in fytd 2021 is the highest of the four years presented by the cbd.gov website for every month in this fiscal year and is, just as 2019 did, climbing fast.
Feb. 2021 is, in fact, 33% higher than Feb. 2019 and climbing faster than it did in 2019.
It is important to note that 2021 figures are on track to be higher than any other year, and for any month chosen to compare. No, the crises has not abated since Biden, in his infinite wisdom, announced that he would end deportations and grant citizenship to anyone in the country at the time his new policy takes effect. Instead it has grown startling quickly.

To worried about the boarder is about useless as much as politicians. Machines are replacing jobs both domestically and foreign. The government is run more by big businesses & technology.
US Customs and Border Protection apprehended 28% more migrants from January to February this year than in previous months. But this was largely seasonal. Two years ago, apprehensions increased 31% during the same period. Three years ago, it was about 25% from February to March.
Migrants start coming when winter ends and the weather gets a bit warmer, then stop coming in the hotter summer months when the desert is deadly.
Starting to see this as much about political grandstanding as it being a yearly issue when a deadly pandemic isn't raging.

A simple, and honest look at Biden's immigration changes. Soon after Biden entered the Oval Office he had a quest to signed one executive (EO) order after another that would cancel out Trump's immigration policies. 11 million undocumented immigrants will be offered an 8-year path to...

Estimates say Trump costed around $36 million a year in golf, so that's $3 million a month. Biden's been President for two weeks and hasn't golfed once. So half a month without golf equals $1.5 million in savings so far.https://trumpgolfcount.com/
