And what other groups of people would you exclude?  And who would be the person to determine who can run?

The story goes that everyone born in the USA or has been naturalized an American has the right to hold office. I suppose this would include celebrities. Ronald Reagan wasn't your worst president. I have heard mixed reports about Schwarzenegger and California. Clint Eastward seems to have done alright in local politics. So there you have it.

Before we bar celebrities from holding office we need to bar professional politicians.

I hear gays in Cali aren't too crazy about Arnold too. On the other hand I have heard that Arnold helped make Green power pay in Cali.

In a democracy every citizen has a right to become involved in politics if they wish.  And in the UK, I can't see how a bunch of celebrities could do a worse job than most of our politicians anyway?

Also most of our politicians seem to want to be celebrities more than they want to be politicians?

Celebrity actors/actress or any other, should have a right to be in the political arena. It's their rights as a citizen of the country they born in.

Do realize, I said born in. Example: Arnold, in Cali, like Crazdwriter already said is doing a horrible job.

Then again, he wasn't American BORN and should NOT be in political office, regardless of what level of government, state or federal.

If you were NOT born in the Country, you cannot run for office.

If you have been naturalized surely you can run for office. Arnold S. was not born in the USA.
