Is it likely that the same two old men will be battling it out in 2024?
We would all love to behold new and capable contenders, but where are they?
Unfortunately, the rich and powerful determine who gets the opportunity to run for president. We no longer have a naturally produced selection of good leaders to choose from.
At some point, will voting become irrelevant?
As with Putin ... "People, people, why vote? You know I will win again.
Let me take that burden off you!"
our government has become a system of legalized bribery, as the undue influence of money, mainly corporate money, has corrupted our democracy.
Due to the influence of money on our political system, our politicians now do more to serve corporate interests than humanitarian ones, to advocate for short-term profit maximization for huge corporate entities before the health, well-being and security of the American people and the planet on which we live.
There's a word for a situation in which a small group of people control most of the resources and exercise most of the power in a country: oligarchy.
The multi-billionaire donor class is not sweating it out for the sake of the average American, and the very existence of such an economic class system bears the fingerprints of a government that systematically has turned its back on its people. When we're not allowed to seriously consider a 3 percent wealth tax on billionaires, yet cannot raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, the American people have a problem. Their needs are not being ignored; they are being assaulted.
The people deserve a president who sides unequivocally with their interests. It won't always make him popular with everyone, but that shouldn't matter.
The US is dominated by a rich and powerful elite.
So concludes a recent study by Princeton University Prof Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Prof Benjamin I Page
Here's how they explain it:
Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organised groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence.
In English: the wealthy few move policy, while the average American has little power.
Not sure who fits the bill.
This is one instance where I agree with you.
Yes, the parties of the people have a common problem.
How to fix it by us low-money people, I do not know.
Clamping down on the formation of monopolies, (already illegal,) might be one way to fix the problem.
All I can say is many things can change in two years. It may be a bit too early to tell what situation our country will be facing. biden is not at all popular with many influential democrats.

Did Romney confirm, again, how out of touch he is with the average American?Romney spoke of the importance of education and should be funded because our future depends on it. Then he stated that he would discontinue all funding for public television. Does he realize that the 47% he spoke of...

We all know it will be party-line loyalty for most voters. According to Pew Research, six percent of voters for the 2022 elections crossed party lines. For the mythical independent voter, it is a binary choice for the President. We are fortunate to be able to assess two Presidents based on criteria...

What are the main indicators that the average American is somewhat uninformed and gulliblein regards to electing political candidates to their respective offices whether local, state, and/or national?

To some Americans, the Democratic Party has metamorphized into socialist, even so-called communistic values. To these Americans, which include more moderate & centrist Democrats, the Democratic Party is no longer the party of Kennedy & Johnson. They contend that this party was veered...
