Is there a connection between psychotropic drugs and mass shooters?

Gun control doesn't work.  Red Flag laws don't work. Maybe we need to look at how psychotropic drugs are dispensed in the United States to young men.

Eric Harris, the columbine killer was on Zoloft and Luvox. A year earlier, a 15-year-old called Kip Kinkel shot his parents and dozens of classmates. He was on Prozac. In 2005, a 16-year-old called Jeff Weise killed his grandfather and ten kids in Minnesota. He was on Prozac, too. So was 27-year-old Steven Kazmierczak who murdered six people at Northern Illinois University. In 2012, you may recall when 25-year-old James Holmes walked into a movie theater and shot 82 people. He was on Zoloft.

The list goes on and on and on and on. It includes the shooter at the Washington Navy Yard in 2013. That would be 34-year-old Aaron Alexis. It also includes Dylan Roof. He's the 21-year-old who shot up the church in Charleston.

The Journal of Political Psychology once assembled a list of dozens more mass killings, all committed by young people, young men on prescription drugs

Between 1991 and 2018, total prescriptions for psychotropic drugs to young men in the United States rose by more than 3,000%

OMG Mike, that makes perfect sense!
Zoloft came out in 1992, Prozac a few years before that, in the late 80s. The first school shooting, Columbine, (aka: mass shooting) was in 1999 and school and mass shootings have continued ever since, becoming more frequent, as new drugs are continually introduced!!!

My thinking is to have legislation controlling the disbursement of these types of drugs.  I would like to see how passing such legislation would affect the gun crime rate in our country.

        +1

Also, it has been noted that daily marijuana use could also be a contributing influence toward mental instability.
Not to mention, unstable home lives.

Gun use is not the problem.
        Unhappy and distorted individuals are.

Let us become conscious of what produces happy, healthy children on their paths toward adulthood and stop contributing to what negatively affects their psyches ...
to the point of senseless killings!

... not to mention the negative influence of hours of playing violent video games on the psyche.

I want to scream to stop blaming guns.  They are an imamate object.  They are a tool that is used to kill people.  They are harmless unless people are using them.  The problem is people and not guns.

It has been revealed that the Ilinois 4th of July shooter was a member of Antifa.

Watch the mainstream media ignore this one.

        It gets even better.

"law enforcement found in Crimo’s pockets a hastily written 3-page manifesto detailing his disdain for “White America.” In sprawling text styled as rap stanzas, Crimo decried “White privilege,” called for the downfall of “White America,” and beseeched Kamala Harris and AOC to wage war against “White establishment.”

“During interrogation Mr. Crimo was asked to reconcile his manifesto with images of him wearing MAGA regalia. He told the Agent in Charge, “C’mon, do I look MAGA to you? Do I look like I support the orange man?” He admitted he attended MAGA events wearing MAGA paraphernalia to mock Donald Trump and his supporters, not align with them. He also spoke to the rise of ANTIFA,” our source said.

Moreover, Crimo, a biological male, self-identified as a female and told investigators he was taking progesterone therapy while awaiting approval for government-sponsored, taxpayer-funded sexual reassignment surgery. Although Crimo reportedly earned income through his music, he was a Medicaid recipient. On March 23, 2010, Hussein Obama’s Obamacare Act barred insurance companies from categorically excluding coverage for sex change procedures.

“This is a very evil, very disturbed, very confused kid,” our source said of 22-year-old Crimo, who has facial tattoos and partly orange hair,” our source said."

Yikes! There were no warning signs!?! He was a walking, talking, neon warning sign! He was ignored and given a pass, because that's what is encouraged today in our screwed up, woke society!
Oh you identify as sexually confused and are on drugs for that and have warped and radical thoughts...oh okay! Have fun with that - You be You!!
And now, once again, more innocent people are dead, because this screwed up, sexually confused, warped and deranged, young man couldn't be singled out, couldn't be labeled, couldn't be told NO and was left to his own devices!
But guns and/or Trump are to blame! Right!!!

There's a connection between men younger than 25 and mass shootings. We know this. Why aren't we taking the necessary precautions?

There is also a connection between psychotropic drugs and men younger than 25.  Why isn't THIS issue being addressed?

Guns have been a part of this Country from the get-go, otherwise we wouldn't have a Country, so explain to me why mass shootings didn't begin until the year 1999, with Columbine?

I spent time in a place growing up where most people showed up with guns in the back of their pick-up.  Never a problem with guns.

Same here Mike, it was commonplace in South Carolina and in Florida. I'm thinking the last time that I saw guns prominently displayed, around town, in school parking lots, etc. was in the 80s.

Yeah! People are waking up and realizing that the psychiatric industry does not have the benefit of others in mind. And the pharmaceutical companies are making a fortune of over prescribing these psychotropic drugs. Which, by the way, are more addicting than street drugs. Effects of psychotropic drugs show mental aberrations and physiological reactions that are detrimental to the human body and psyche. Getting to our children is the plan with labeling children as mentally ill because John doesn't pay attention or Sally has negative thoughts. All normal children in an insane world, trying to survive. Luckily, there are valid workable solutions as more and more psychiatric doctors and institutions are exposed and shut down. I look forward to the day when these barbarians are gone. https://www.cchr.org/cchr-reports/harmi … ction.html

The scourge of gun violence in America can be traced to the fact that there are too many flipping guns in the country and they are too easy to get. Making up other excuses is why nothing ever changes.

One thing that (I think) we can agree on Island, despite the many contradicting sources, this tattooed-faced, crazy-eyed Charles Manson-type, is a cray-cray psycho.
