Trump, The Dysfunctional GOP Congress and The Supreme Court

    The GOP House of Representatives
The GOP House of Representative is being bullied by the right-wing, extremist group called the Freedom Caucus. Thanks to Max Gaetz and company, now all it requires to oust a speaker of the house is a motion to vacate and a simple majority of 218 votes.

Marjorie Taylor Green and company have tried to threaten Mike Johnson with that because she didn’t want any funding for Ukraine and her list of transgression that she has for the speaker. In a meeting with Mike Johnson, Trump said he loves Marjorie Taylor Greene and what she is doing. A few days later she had a meeting with the speaker and said she would remove the list of transgression against him, if he would defund Ukraine..  He told her it's too late the funding is already in process.

    The GOP Senate
Many GOP Senators appear to be intimidated by Trump’s sway within the party. A significant portion of Republican senators and representatives remain loyal to Trump. They fear backlash from Trump’s base if they publicly oppose him or acknowledge the legitimacy of President Joe Biden’s election victory.

    The Supreme Court
The case before the Supreme Court involves whether a former president is entitled to immunity from criminal prosecution for alleged official acts taken while in the White House.
Trump argues that he cannot be charged for his alleged efforts to subvert the transfer of presidential power after the 2020 election. The decision will impact special counsel Jack Smith’s case against Trump in Washington, D.C., where the former president faces four charges.

It could also affect two other cases involving Trump: One in South Florida, related to his alleged mishandling of classified documents. Another in Fulton County, Georgia, related to his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

During arguments, the Supreme Court seemed likely to recognize that former presidents are entitled to some level of immunity from federal prosecution for acts undertaken while in office. It should be noted that justices who are leaning toward granting him immunity were all appointed by Trump and now they feel obligated and beholden to him. Let me remind you that Trump said on day one of his being elected, he would be a dictator.

    Justice Alito
Justice Samuel Alito, a Supreme Court Justice, faced controversy when an upside-down U.S. flag was displayed outside his home in January 2021.

An upside-down flag is traditionally a sign of dire distress or a versatile symbol of protest.
The flag flying at Alito’s home was largely seen in connection with the false claim by then-President Donald Trump’s supporters that the 2020 election had been marred by fraud.
Alito’s Response: Alito stated that the flag was briefly flown by his wife, Martha-Ann Alito, amid a dispute with neighbors. He emphasized that he had no involvement in it.

    Justice Clarence Thomas
Thomas accepted financial support and gifts from Texas billionaire Harlan Crow, a prominent Republican donor.
These gifts included: Tuition payments for Thomas’s grandnephew’s private school; A property sale; and Lavish trips.
