The Petro-Dollar is Dead ... Now What?

Petrodollars are simply U.S. dollars that have been exchanged for crude oil exports.

The term rose to economic and political prominence in the 1970s Foreign oil exporters agreed to use the U.S. dollar as the principal means of exchange, strengthening the value reflected in the dollar which already had the established role as the global reserve currency, a status threatened by Nixxon taking us off the Gold standard.

    That agreement ended this month.

The UAE along with Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, and others will no longer trade oil in the Dollar exclusively, or at all.

For most nations of the world, the ability to purchase much needed energy or raw resources no longer requires the Dollar, nor does buying top notch technology or industrial goods... a precarious position for the Dollar to be in.

Exporters accepted dollars because they had no alternative: it was the currency of their leading customer and, even more importantly, the currency of international trade and finance.  That is no longer the case moving forward.

Other currencies, such as the Chinese Yuan, or even cryptocurrencies, could become more prominent in international trade, diminishing the dollar’s hegemony and this replacement is gaining speed on a multiplier today's tech curve is taking... in other words, fast.

The US will face challenges in financing its deficits and maintaining its economy, we can see this already with the printing of 1 trillion dollars of debt every hundred days.

While the world may have been moving in this direction, it may not have occurred in our lifetimes, if not for the Biden Administration showing the world how truly corrupt and dangerous America has become.

The world watches what the Biden Administration has done with Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine and Russia.

The world saw how Biden insulted, ridiculed, and then later demanded things from Saudi Arabia.

The world is watching as the Former President and current Front Runner for the Presidency is JAILED.

To say nothing of our domestic issues that gets so much news coverage, from Trans competing with women to our wonderful immigration issues.

Any alternative must be looking like a good alternative to the Dollar and where it is headed if you are a foreign nation.
