On Monday night (08/12/24) Elon Musk on 'X' interviewed Donal Trump. There was technical glitch causing a delay, but it forged forward. There are articles hot off the press discussing it. Have you read any?

Trump and Musk talk about assassination attempt and deportations during glitchy chat on X by AP News (Aug 13, 2024 4:16 am)

"NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump recounted his assassination attempt in vivid detail and promised the largest deportation in U.S. history during a high-profile return to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter — a conversation that was plagued by technical glitches.

“If I had not turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now — as much as I like you,” Trump told X’s owner Elon Musk.

Musk, a former Trump critic, said the Republican nominee’s toughness, as demonstrated by his reaction to last month’s shooting, was critical for national security.

“There’s some real tough characters out there,” Musk said. “And if they don’t think the American president is tough, they will do what they want to do.”

Trump chats with Musk in lengthy, overarching interview as Harris continues snubbing media by Fox News (Aug 12, 2024 11:49 pm EDT.

"Former President Donald Trump spoke with tech billionaire Elon Musk in an overarching, lengthy interview Monday evening on X as Vice President Kamala Harris continues avoiding the media since landing on the top of the Democratic ticket for the White House.

"It's pretty sad when you think that somebody that does this for a living can't answer a question or is afraid to do an interview, and in her case, with a very friendly interview. She's got all friendly interviewers," Trump said of Harris Monday evening during his roughly two-hour interview with Musk on X Space."

You can listen to the interview at the following link. I didn't listen to all of it myself. This YouTube doesn't start right at the beginning. Worth listening to while doing something else on your PC or doing morning stuff. I am listening to it now. Trump seems to be forthright with the discussion.

Once again, an interesting current topic. This should lead to some fascinating conversations.

In my view, Content-wise, the interview appeared to be more of a friendly chat than a hard-hitting political discussion. Musk and Trump both refrained from challenging each other on controversial issues. Instead, the conversation focused on familiar talking points, including criticisms of the current administration and discussions about the future.  (Which I enjoyed) The lack of rigorous questioning or deep exploration of policy ideas may left me looking for substance, I was a bit disappointed.

Moreover, the interview seemed to serve more as a platform for mutual promotion rather than a serious political discussion.   I found Musk's alignment with Trump's campaign was evident, and the event felt more like a promotional tool than an opportunity for voters to gain new insights into Trump's plans or Musk's political views. Sort of an "I am back" promotion, due to Trump deciding to resume posting on X.  I browsed X this Am, and it is evident that Trump has a record number of users once again liking his posts.  So, did the interview serve to draw his followers back? Yes, it did.

In my honest view,  the interview was a missed opportunity for both substantive discussion and effective use of the platform,  there was a lack of meaningful engagement on critical issues.  I hoped for more...

Thanks for the review Sharlee. I did not even know there was going to be an interview. I discovered the AP article in my mailbox this morning, which I see at 5 am PDT. So, I jumped on the opportunity to create an OP.

While doing it I was listening to the interview. I did not get to hear the whole thing yet. I don't know where in the interview it began with the link I provided. Hopefully, there will be the complete interview posted later somewhere as I would like to listen to it.

With what I did hear I was pleasantly surprised at Trump's temperament, which seemed unusual for me considering most of what I have heard has been rallies. He was discussing immigration when I was listening.

Musk seemed to be hemming and hawing kind of. I really don't remember any questions by him submitted to Trump. Yet, like I shared I didn't catch enough of the interview to matter maybe 15 - 20 minutes of the I understand 2 hours.

I am never on 'X' and suspect I would have to follow Trump to see his posts. I haven't signed into 'X' (Twitter) for a few years now. I only joined to promote articles both mine and friends.

I did notice his temperament, but that's something I'm accustomed to seeing from him. Typically, Trump is very open and congenial in settings like town halls, one-on-one interviews, and even during his press conferences. I've always had the sense that he prefers direct conversations with people over-delivering scripted speeches.

Personally, I appreciate candidates who speak their minds and don't just tell people what they want to hear. It's refreshing to see someone be straightforward, even if it sometimes comes across as a bit blunt/hyperbolic.

Listening to Trump is always difficult for me.

The greatest speech I believe Trump ever gave, at the UN, which stayed on topic and to the point (for Trump), is what I would point to for anyone who wants to know what Trump stands for and believes in.

I listened to about 10-15 minutes of that interview this morning, it was about all I could take, it was like listening in to two people's phone conversation... it meandered around and didn't say anything new or significant... but then, I didn't listen for long.

I don't support Trump because he is a great orator.

I consider what the other side represents, what their goals are, where they are leading the country... and I don't have any other choice, Trump is the only alternative that has a shot at making sure the trainwreck we are heading to isn't significantly worse than what it is going to be.

Thanks for the contribution, Ken. I only heard about 15 minutes too, yet would like to listen to the whole interview. As I told Sharlee I enjoyed the fact it was a casual conversation rather than ra-ra rally kind of thing.

From what I read it doesn't seem like the interview offered anything unique. But, I would still like to listen to Trump. I would play in the background while I do other stuff on my PC.

If I listen to the whole thing, that will be how I listen to it as well... as I do often with other things of interest.

It will be while at home, working on something else, that allows me to have it in the background... paying just enough attention so that if something interesting does get talked about, I will hopefully catch it and pay it attention.

[EDIT] came across this summary & jokes version condensed to 15 minutes or less:
