Suicide
It is a matter of concern that the problem of suicide is worsening day by day. The word suicide means ending one's own life, and it evokes fear, grief, and deep sorrow. Its pain can truly be understood only by those who have lost their loved ones. The daily headlines reporting suicides reflect the irony of what we call a "developed society.
The word suicide itself is frightening, as it represents an escape from a life filled with pain and despair. To raise awareness and help prevent this growing crisis, World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every year on September 10 across the world.
Even hearing the word suicide brings to mind a tragic image of death. It is easy to describe it as a chosen death, but in reality, it is an unexpected and heartbreaking loss. People end their lives in different ways, such as by hanging, consuming poison, jumping from heights, or stepping in front of a train. Sadly, new methods continue to emerge.
A life that takes nine months to enter this beautiful world, carrying countless dreams and hopes, can end in just a moment. In the search for peace from suffering, a person may forget that there is no certainty of finding peace after taking one's own life. Instead, such a decision often leaves family members and loved ones with lifelong grief and emotional hardship.
The alarming rise in suicides cannot be ignored. Every year, around 700,000 people lose their lives to suicide, while many more attempt it. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death among children, adolescents, and young adults. The increasing number of suicides has raised serious concerns worldwide, including in India, where some regions have witnessed particularly high suicide rates. This growing sense of despair and hopelessness demands immediate attention.

I am thinking about writing a hub on death. I'm curious to atheist's thoughts on death and dying. I'm particularly interested in atheists that were formally christians - how is it different for you now?I'm not interested in the burning-in-hell-for-eternity spiel from the...
