I think we don't need war, its been done as long as time as been, and what did it really ever resolve. We are still warring! We never seem to learn to communicate and settle our differences!

      Of course you are right.

Even the wars that are going on now are mostly engineered aggression in the cause of trade - which is even more wrong and makes patriotic soldiers into no more than paid mercenaries.

At least in the "old" days the King's family were in the firing line instead of today's warmongering creeps who cause the wars and hide in safety - and also profit to an obscene degree.

I think that has been the case since the tribal system led to the biggest bully becoming king and all the minor bullies being given jobs close to him.  We drift in and out of direct rule of one form or another but always working for the man, whether he can be seen like a king or hidden like the money men of today.  It is their wars we are made to fight and only dimwits and fools believe any more that we are fighting for some just patriotic cause.

Under the condition of war in the Bible , wars would be impossible to fight on those bases. Yet religion is use as a tool to kill  their enemie like demon or subhuman, other wise the motivate to kill another human being would not be as great

Great quotations. Most of the military actions the U.S. engaged in since WWII were unforced errors and a huge waste of lives and money. The issues could have been resolved through diplomacy and patience or simply ignored. It was necessary to stop Hitler and Japan in WWII, in my opinion.

If you think you can solve all problems with all enemies with words.

        Then you are straight gullible.

I would love to think it could be done like that... but in the real world people are sneaky an evil... and some enemies simply need to be killed.

Per capital there is less wars today in the world than in any other time in human history, we are making progress. The mentally ill do not need to be killed yet treated even those old politician that kill people, mainly.

Just cause someone wants to aquire power and rule the world... does not mean they are "mentally ill".

And you can thank America for the relative peace in the world today.

But I am sure you will all deny and cry about that.

I am sure we will all know just how true that is as sson as Paul or the Democrats destroy our military ability.

Over population and for the first time in modern human history our life span is reversing. Both serious problems could partly be solved if we had the law like China has , only one child can be born per family.

I'm not sure how anyone can claim that war never solves anything.  Raw, naked violence (war, both big and small) has settled more issues than anything else throughout history.  We might ask the city fathers of Carthage their feelings on that matter.

Or have those city fathers debate the question with Scipio Aemilianus.  The ghosts of Churchill, Emperor Hirohito and Gengis Khan could referee.

WAR is only at number 59th place on the list of actually direct death, of most cause of death. Over all the number one greatest cause of death is poverty world wide and if we took a fraction of the war budget which is the greatest waste, most expensive cost and solves nothing It would conquer most of the problem of poverty. Believe me, lawyers, the greedy and Politicians would not want you or the vast majority to know this number one cause of death is poverty

      Eisenhower said:
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children....
This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense.
Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from an iron cross.

maybe you should take a tour of a war zone before and after then you might realise this is not the case.  Nothing is solved by war that would not have been better solved in almost any other way.

      1. wilderness profile image99
wildernessposted 6 years agoin reply to this

As I say, ask the ghost of Scipio Aemilianus if the problem of constant wars with Carthage was solved by a war.

While I completely agree that the solutions gained by war could often have been better solved in a different way, war has proven itself to be effective for the human race.  While all solutions are temporary (all it takes to destroy a good solution is a new leader that doesn't like it) those solutions gained by war are generally the longest lasting.  Again, ask Aemilianus if his solution was effective long term.

Perhaps one day the human race will grow and develop until it no long uses war and killing to find solutions to its internal problems, but until then we will continue to find war as a common solution to many problems.  It is naive at best to think that war is always avoidable at our present level of development, or that it does not offer solutions.  I don't think Churchill or Truman would agree that war can always be avoided, and their solutions may be as long lasting as any solutions can be.

At one time we thought black slavery or gay rights would not change. Today let my over povertyished people go, 1/3 o f the world is homeless and slavery numbers is the worst it has ever been in human history and often enough by gun point. The only thing war give us is long term suffering. I know I’ve visited 9 war zoned Countries, it would only be naïve to think war solve anything. At one time USA spent Soviet Union to death which most people agree with at that time and place. Today between USA and Russia they own 90% of the world’s nuclear warheads. USA goes around threaten other countries, if you are not our friends you can’t have nuclear energy or nuclear weapons, and American are the only one that has used them in human history.
Most people do not want war, most people do not agree with USA having half the world’s offensive war budget. It is only a matter of time the world will spend the USA to death. There is no better solution we the people can do immediately and no better time than Right NOW on earth to slow down worldwide human being suffering then to dramatically slow down The USA points by their big Guns to suppress our freedoms

War is a natural outcome of government.

If you generate an entity, and claim it has the power to kill when its rules are broken, then it thus has the power to throw your children into war.

    End war by ending government.

Then we have unnatural Governments, we cannot end them because we need Government to survive and Government need us to survive, much like the fungus needs the tree and the tree needs the fungus to keep its roots cool and to protect the tree from diseases
