Do you think growing technology is causing harm to humanity.
Hey zuhr-akb....
I think about this often and it IS bothersome to me. I think we do rely too much on technology and I wonder in my mind where is this going to end. I feel like it is TOO much. Things aren't personal anymore.. we have a machine to do everything for us. Really kind of scary when I think about it. I think simplicity brings peace.. and there is nothing simple about technology. Don't get me wrong- I think cell phones, computers etc are great but I just think they keep going to far with things and everything seems okay right now but I do see huge potential for harm in this.
I agree with Jaime.
It's plain to see it's causing harm. Physical harm to the people who use it and harm to the solidarity of society. I can only imagine how many people have died in car accidents because they were talking or texting on their phones. Eyesight from looking at computer screens all day has diminished. Also, there is a lack of physical activity because a lot of people are consumed by these electronics, especially computers. You cannot help but notice how fast time flies when you're watching youtube videos, browsing facebook, or something similar. Technology is turning us into zombies but it does have its benefits as well.
I believe if we didn't have so much to do in our own home (because the possibilities are endless with a computer that is connected to the internet) people would spend more time with their friends, family, and community. Volunteerism is practically non-existent compared to statistics in the past and I wonder if this is to blame.
Let's not blame the thermometer for the temperature. Technology doesn't harm humanity. The use of it, however...
If anything, it's the way people use technology that may be harmful.
It depends on how to see this. If we think positively, no harm to humanity, growing technology will cause human progress.
We live in a society where technology is everywhere we go and in everything we do. It has become a way of life for many of us. It is so convenient it is now an inconvenience to avoid. I recently wrote a hub about how technology has affected us as a society http://paradice.hubpages.com/hub/Techno … se-society

Why does humanity seem to think that it is our job to protect God from harm?To insure that God isn't corrupted by our impurity? To keep God from knowing about the bad stuff?.... as if GOD didn't already know .... as if God was corruptable... isn't that just human arrogance?

What can we do about stress today that is causing our families to become dysfunctional?Hard times, Affordable Care Act, technology problems, rising food and other prices, sports on TV continuously, politics, eating non nutritious food, all seem to be in play here. We need more fun and laughter.

Will humanity have a Utopian society or deteriorate into a dystopian one in the near future? We all hope for a Utopian society, but is that really possible considering how we, humans, do things now? At the rate at which we are going, do you think our descendants would live in a much better place...

This is a topic I am forever mulling over in my curious mind; I'm just as curious to know what everybody else thinks about this? Where will we be as a race in 500 years time? Will we still be here? Will we have achieved colonization of the moon, Mars etc? Will wars still be waged?I'm interested in...
