How to Let Go of Someone You Love

Updated on July 10, 2015

The power of letting go is incredibly healthy. When you are bound to a certain emotion, an emotion that keep you from living the life you love, it will prevent you from starting fresh. When you learn to let go, something will set you free. It heals and it directs you toward the bright side of your life. It gives you peace and freedom of living the rot of life. As Oprah Winfrey said, "Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure. " Yes, that is true. In order to embrace the beauty of life, letting go of something that you cannot control will channel you into something bigger and better.

A popular sayings that says, "If you love someone let them go, if they return they're forever yours" may interpreted as you let go with an expectation that a person will comes back to you. The essence of letting go is to surrender your desire to the universe, without expecting something in return. If you keep on hoping that the one you love will return to you, you will not enjoy the moment. You will fail to recognized new people in your life. Letting go is to let go totally. Period. Whether it's the person, things, memories or anything. A heart to surrender anything to God and a heart to welcome new people are one step closer to totally let go.

How to Let Go When You Love Someone Deeply?

Of course, you made the risk to love someone. And once you're in that stage, you know that it involves many things. To love is to be open and be vulnerable toward the person. When you're vulnerable, you're willing to take anything just for the sake of love. Hurt and pain are part of it. But for sure, you wouldn't mind the pain because falling in love is absolutely great. It's a good feeling that will inspires you, make you sane, makes you feel crazy, makes you whole, makes you bold and would make you do almost anything that you haven't done before. Love is a strong emotion that push you to come out in your shell and risk your heart outside the box.

To love someone is great and to care for someone is absolutely wonderful. But what if suddenly, someone you love changes her/his mind about you and all this loving will come to an end? Would you stop the person or would you let her/him go?

For sure, you will say no. How could you let go when she/he is part of you? You already think about your future with him? Everyday you think about how to please this person and how to make him/her happy and then, one day--it changes. That person resisted and back away in the relationship. How can a good feeling be taken away from you? How could that person couldn't sense that you love her/him so much? Sometimes, you feel that you can't live without this person. And, that everything about him/her is the replica of you. And you asks God, why?

Why it happens? Is there something that you did wrong? Is there anything you can do to correct it?

That's when hurt comes in. Pain that is insufferable and a heart that is broken. It would take you months or even years to heal. And why is that? Because you love this person so much and you can't let him/her go.

Your whole life is at stake, however if you don't let go. Holding on to someone would only makes you feel insecure and get hurt again and again.

But if you value the essence of life and think about the safe landing, you will let this kind of feeling and that person go.

How to Let Go Quotes

“A sad thing in life is that sometimes you meet someone who means a lot to you only to find out in the end that it was never bound to be and you just have to let go.”

“There are things that we never want to let go of, people we never want to leave behind. But keep in mind that letting go isn’t the end of the world, it’s the beginning of a new life.”

Let go. Why do you cling to pain? There is nothing you can do about the wrongs of yesterday. It is not yours to judge. Why hold on to the very thing which keeps you from hope and love?
-- Leo Buscaglia

Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over.
-- Gloria Naylor

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the life that is waiting for us.
-- Joseph Campbell

There's a wisdom of letting go. Things may not work out the way you plan it but if you let go, you will find an inner peace. You will embrace tomorrow with hope and love.

If you don't let go, true love will never comes to you. Do not think that your past love is a failure. Always remember that when you happen to meet someone and they touch your life the way it inspires you, it is for your memory to keep and things to learn in the future. Do not hate the person. Hate only gives you the power of unforgiving heart. Don't hold on to the past. Always look forward to what is best. In the game of love there is no competition, it doesn't matter of who wins or who lost. It's not about winning or losing. It's about experiencing the beauty of love. What matter most is you know when to hold on and when to let go. It is good to hold on when you know that the one you love needs you and asks you to hold on. But what if the one you love needs to find herself/himself? Is this the right time to let go?

You will love someone deeply if to let go is the only way that can makes her/him happy. Even if her or his happiness doesn't involve you or you are not part of it. You can measure the amount of how much you love by accepting the fact that you are not part of her/his happiness. Love is tricky at times. This person love you once and all of the sudden it's gone like bubbles in the air.

Learn to let go. It is when you let go, the universe will be open to you. Love more. It is when you love more, you will see the essence of happiness.

Needs a little grammatical revision but otherwise well thought out. I really like your style of writing and the way you join words together! I would recommend your work to others!
