In the name of love - Lovers in Exile

Updated on December 29, 2016

Love is Forever

Have you really loved?

Nowadays, divorce rate is getting higher and higher. Often, you hear in the Entertainment news that so and so get separated or divorced after XX years. People can’t help but wonder: what is happening in the world? Does true love really exist? Here is a true story I once read, a story about a couple, who has been living alone in the mountain for over fifty years. They willingly abandon the civilization in the name of love.

A young man falls in love with a widow. His family disapproves their relationship. He follows his heart and gives up everything just to be with her. They elope to the mountain, living together as husband and wife. That year, he is only twenty-one years old, and she, forty- one. He hunts and farms to provide for the woman he loves, and hand carves thousands steps with railings along the mountainside, so that the woman can move about safely. Five decades have passed; their love is as strong as the first time they set their eyes on each other.

People often say love, but how many of them walk through their lives with the one they truly cherish. A friend of mine has only married for 8 months. Her new husband in a jealous rage tries to run her over with his truck. “If I can’t have you then no one else will,” he claims. She divorces him a week later.

Love is a tricky emotion. If you have really loved, you will know that falling out of one is not an easy thing to do. Sometimes, true love happens in a glance, yet the strength of it can last a lifetime.
