Myself there is none. According to my friends, walking away from the academia after more than 20 years of schooling for it.

Your decision was an important one, and if you have no regrets and are fine, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Thanks for having the courage to make that choice.

LOL -- I made it to here in my life and I am totally comfortable in my own skin PLUS I choose to be HAPPY!

Given the fact I planned other things, and worked my buns off for other things that never came together, it is unbelievable nothing I worked for came together as planned, "yet!"

................But.... here I am, "happy in my own skin."  Success slipped through a back door and shook me awake and taught me -  "Life itself is what is beautiful."

The way I see it, you did find success, this was your path  in learning about life and being truly happy. You have attained a great achievement in life...this is something very few will ever see or feel. All the hard work you did was not for nothing,

lupine - exactly what I meant by my comment :-)  I found success - just not in the way I planned it -- and I would not change a thing about how I got to where I am.. :-)  I Made it!!  Life is good!!!

Getting my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy while being in a totally dysunctional marriage.  I learned a lot that way though, and on my private, personal journey toward health and wholeness I learned that, getting healthy can sometimes save your marriage and other times open your eyes that it is not worth it.

That must have been quite a challenge...but I'm sure you learned exactly what you had to do and were able to understand what was happening in your own marriage.  Sounds like you chose the right path, congratulations.
