A parent tells their unattractive daughter she is “beautiful” or their son with a low GPA that he is smart and he can be anything he wants even president of the United States. Most parents tell their children about Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Someone living in poverty tells themself they are rich every night before going to sleep and they (visualize) themself traveling around the world living a grand lifestyle. A husband tells his wife she does NOT look fat in that dress. A friend going through a very rough period is told: “Everything will work out for the best in the end”.
The reason why people are willing to overlook (white lies) is because they are told to generate a “positive” impact or with “good intentions”. White lies are generally not told to harm people. It’s been said, “Perception is reality”. Some successful people have said, “You have to (fake it) to you make it.” Whether someone tells you a “white lie” or you tell yourself “white lies” the intention is not to harm.
