After All l Didn´t Know You

Updated on March 19, 2013

How Could I Be So Naive ? I Really Didn´t Know You.

To think that through it all.

l didn´t know you.!

How could l mistake the kindness?

How could l know that it was fake?

l didn´t know you.

l thought we had a solid bond

It was real to me...

How could l know your smile was fake?

Am l so naive?....for sure

l didn´t know you.

No wonder now, l keep a fence,

A wall around myself

A barrier twixt me and others

afraid of closeness, as before

before we met and I knew the score

Why would l want to make new friends?

New place-- new people...--- they could be you........

And l didn´t know you. However much I thought I did

I didn´t know you

How sad for me. How sad for you!!!

You cannot be a friend. You are not real.

l have ONE FRIEND. l cherish her.

But you? l didn´t know you,

I had a "best friend". Friends since middle school. I supported him when his parents didn't. Loved him no matter what. Confided in him and then he turned and judged me. Then he chose a relationship over our friendship. His loss. Sad to say but I will never forgive him.

Beautiful, sad, and... strong. I too had a "pretend friend" in my life, who's perpetual fakeness hurt me deeply in the long run.

Thank you for sharing this bit of your personal humanity with all the rest of us.

    Well done and appreciated!

Hi DF, lovely and sad for those who cannot give as well as receive. A good lesson for this season. I am encouraging myself to not let the miserly nature of others define how I give of myself. The problem with walls is they tend to keep us in more than others out. I say the heck with them. If we just let our natural giving nature be like a spring that is perennially replenished regardless of the nature of others, we lose nothing and karma will take care of everyone else. Cheers. =:)

thank you Dream On for such a lovely comment. l have met some wonderful people through hubpages, like you.. Your personality shows through your writings as it does with all of us,. (that poem , though was about someone i spent many years with as ´friends´without realising how onesided it was) Never mind their loss as you say. and l have my wonderful Diane who IS A REAL FRIEND plus all my hubfriends. Thank again for all your support.

Well it is their loss.If they don't really want to be true.I am so glad you see you here and everywhere on so many different hubs.I follow your trail.I am like a bear following crumbs. In time I hope to know all of you.But when that time comes I will have probably lost my mind and then I will have to begin again. It is very nice to know you.Thank you for being a friend.
