This is a strikingly bizarre question, I say! Yes it does, when there's no peace in heart. Why is there no peace in heart? That's a different question and it may have hundreds of answers.

It can only torture if you place it in the hands of a torturer.  Appreciate and know your worth, as well as the worth of the person you are completely surrendering yourself to.

Maybe.. but it depends on the kind of love. There are loves that tortures because they are not constant. we are hurting when the love is not wrapped up as much as we expect.

If love tortures, It wouldn't be love. True love is unconditional and loving nature.

Our beliefs can be, our perceptions and expectations of how love should be. Love just is-love.

It is not supposed to, if torture is evident, then it is not love.

yes, love tortures when you loved someone that passes away and can never be or see them again. In the end, you can not follow where they have gone - love tortures eternally.

I don't think i believe and i am sure it does. Wait is the main pain in Love to bear. I fell in love 1 year ago, She was my Collegue in Call Center, I proposed her and she said i will think of it and still waiting for her acceptance. It really tortures me. I can't wait for her more now.
