If you were to stand before God today and He should ask you, "Why should I let you into Heaven?"

...what would your response be? Looking for serious soul searching answers. Would love to help anyone seeking true understanding.

As I understand Christianity, isn't the whole point that humans aren't worthy, and can't save themselves?  That it's only through God's mercy that people are saved?  According to that theology, there is nothing one could say to God that would merit admission into Heaven, other than, "You shouldn't, but if you do, it's pure mercy."

Hindus say that there is only one Supreme Being that is Brahman and all other beings including humans are his offsprings or in other words his creations and so they all are equal before Him. God being father, all are his sons,Christ being not only one

Growing up in a Christian church & school… that's exactly it. No one is worthy except through the sacrifice made on the cross through Jesus Christ. That's basic Christian Theology as I understand it.

Humans aren't worthy is not a basic Christian theology, you should try to learn the teachings of Jesus Christ about love and truth. As Mr. Hariprasad says, if everyone is equal in front of Bhrama, why cast system and all discrimination?

I think the idea behind the question was "what if."  It's a hypothetical question.  That question is asked by everyone really.  I have heard almost every pastor in the world ask, "do you know where you are going...heaven or hell.  And if you don't here is what you need to do."

Maybe the better question might be is your name written in the Book of Life, but it is really the same question being asked here...just in a different way.

I don't think this irrelevant at all.  And no, we may not ever be asked that question, but I think it was a good question because it makes people look at themselves.  Then they can ask the bigger question: Am I living for God?

    Good job Born Again!

We must prepare ourself prior to going there...like now! Do what he requires of us...now! So that we will know where we are headed. Yes! He forgave our sins..but the same ppl are committing the same sins every day and not repenting (changing). Therefore their soul/spirit is unclean in his sight. It is written Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. St Matthew 4:4....I REFUSE TO GO TO THE OTHER PLACE! I MUST make heaven my home. We don't want it to be said, Too late! I gave you a chance to be saved. Hell was not meant for man but the devil and his angels. Hell is too hot and eternity is too long. I cannot afford for God to say, Depart from me into everlasting fire. St Matthew 25.....Lord Jesus save my soul!! I want to live a clean, holy, saved and righteous life so I can go back with you when you come for the righteous. Don't let me be left out Jesus. What must I do to be saved? Obey Acts 2:38

I would politely disagree with the premise of the question.
Because God will never ask that question and this is why.

All true love is unconditional. God's love is the highest form and is totally unconditional. He has always been with you and knows more about you than you know about yourself. You may have questions, but he does not.

He would open "his arms" and "hug you" and welcome you in. No words are necessary.

Your are imperfect because of his divine will and he knows that.
He will fix you up like a mother finding her lost child. God's love is more powerful than any mother's love.

Your dog will always welcome you home. It will lick you while wagging it's tail with joy. God's love is even more powerful than that dog's love.

This should be good news about God and you. However, many will reject this because they cannot fathom that God's unconditional love is far greater than that dog's love or that mother's love. He is actually the source of that dog's love and that mother's love.

God always likes the best for you and he will never ask that ungodly question. Have faith your loving God.

"Being in heaven", "being a part of the whole".

Why do we believe in our separation from God?

    With all due respect:

If we would really feel connected towards the whole, we wouldn't ask these kind of questions.

We aren't allowed into Heaven because we are good, or we have touched people, or even if we prayed every single day, thinking it would let us live forever. Heaven is a gift. an amazing gift. Jesus died for our sins so we could recieve it. We definitley are blessed to have this, and even more blessed that He wouldn't do that. I would say.... Then I said something like, “Because I love you. . . .” Smh.

And then I think I said, “Because I have a relationship with you and accept you as my Personal Lord and Savoir. And know you died on the cross for my sins. I've turned away from my sins and no longer wish to be the person I used to be. ”

God, Heaven, Hell, Judgement Day, Eternal Life,  Punishment and so on, we have made such a complex jargon of these elusive words around us that we live our lives in a very miserable way. If one believes that God has given us this life on earth, what should one do with it. Should he keep pondering about afterlife instead of making the best of the present life with all his heart and mind. Even this life is uncertain, one minute, one hour, some months , some years and even this is spent with hardship, poverty, tension, problems, diseases and so on plus some happy moments, comforts, luxuries for some fortunate ones. So whatever a little solace or pleasure can be extracted out of this uncertain and fleeting life, we deprive it by delving on the abstract ideas that is after life, liberation. Eternal life that I have mentioned above. So, keeping in mind the above all aspects of my existence, I will ask God- I have spent my life to the best of my thinking, to the best of my efforts, to the best of my abilities. Though I tried my best to adhere to whatever good is spread in he holy texts with the best utilization of my wisdom bestowed upon me by You, I have committed some wrongs too, I have deviated from the path highlighted in sacred literature but this has occurred due to my ignorance and in the course of my persistent struggle to survive despite odds. When I prayed and asked for something, sometimes you blessed me with it, yet sometimes you kept silent. I also prayed to you to give me such an insight to know you with my logic, reading, reflection, meditation and sheer earnestness. Sometimes I was stirred by You, yet sometimes, You caused a vacuum and left me bewildered. As of today, I am uncertain of either Heaven or Hell, right or wrong, sin or noble work. Whatever mindset was provided by you, I utilized it and harnessed it to the maximum. At the same time, I took extra care not to hurt anyone with either my word or action. What help I could have extended to the needy, I did it. I tried to behave  with my family members in a decent manner but sometimes they suffered on account of my rage too. If I try to evaluate my self in a fair manner, I would say that I am more bad than good. I am 100 % certain that I am not 100% good that is a perfect man and to be a fit person to enjoy all pleasures in Heaven,  Father, when you have made a Hell besides Heaven and a majority of people are bound to be sent there, please make it in tandem with the degree of sins of humans.

One thing I have learned this life is that "following Christ" is much more than merely mouthing the words. Faith without action is emptiness. And I have not been active enough.

  27. Agnes Penn profile image61

The only way He can let me into Heaven is if I do His will.  Heaven is the place where God's will is done perfectly.  If I don't learn this here I can't live there.
I understand a little bit about God with us in terms of relationships: since Adam and Eve we have been given a chance to obey, but didn't.  The ten commandments are an easy form to figure out God's will.
When Jesus came and told us how to obey he summed up the ten commandments in two and then showed us how to follow God' will.  Even at Gethsemane: Father, not my will, but Yours.  And there, also, He gave us the example that we must have established communication with God - constant prayer- to know His will.
The one man whom we know is in Heaven by Jesus' own words was a thief all his life, but at the end he did the will of God: he recognized his sin, he recognized Jesus as God, put his brother in his place by defending the Innocent One and asked for mercy.  He fixed his relationship with God - even if at the last minute - and bent his own will to that of God's.
I pray God will have mercy on all of us in this forum and on my soul and we learn how to do His will while we live here, so to do it perfectly in Heaven.

My response? I suppose that my response would be one of sadness, humility, and thankfulness all at the same time. My answer would probably come out in the form of, "As myself, I shouldn't be allowed to go into Heaven. I shouldn't even be able to be seeing You right now and I shouldn't even have this opportunity to answer You. But because You sacrificed Your son for my sins, because You love the world so much, because You love and want me, You are allowing me to do so. Since You have done these things and infinitely more, I am able to enter Heaven. Because of Your never ending love, Your gentle, tender kindness, and Your son, who sits at Your right hand." This I feel would be the most honest answer I could possibly give.

About heaven, after giving the necessary account of the way I lived. I would most certainly leave it up to Him to decide.

I have placed my faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. His blood has washed away my sins and only because of Him can I enter Heaven!

Father, based on my own merites and efforts I don't deserve the right to enter your Kingdom. However, I put my faith in your son Jesus Christ because He took my sins with Him when He was nailed to the cross. In exchange for my sins He gave me grace and through faith I received it. So Father, it is not anything I could have done to obtain the right to enter your Kingdom. It is what Your Son did for me.

Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I'm boned regardless on this front.

I'd say - "By your life, death and resurrection Lord Jesus, heaven's gate has been opened to all who have eyes that see and ears that hear. I heard your invitation for me to come in and I simply have to accept your invitation not by mere words nor by my mere intellect or body but by my moment to moment inner surrender  . . . carrying my own cross willingly and cheerfully yet discerningly and guided by your wisdom unto my own life, death and resurrection- through daily grind, knowing fully well this life is a gift from you."

"Wherever I recognize of your Holy Spirit's presence,  and that is everywhere . . . heaven is here. And every time I become aware of your coming and that is all the time since your Spirit is not bound by time . .. heaven opens. It is heaven every time I allow to be graced and to be led by your unconditional love, pure joy, healing and true peace; loving myself as I am and every creation as they are without pre-judgments and conditions. Heaven is here and now every time my thoughts, emotions and actions are aligned with your divine will."

"With you speaking now Lord, I am in heaven. Your presence and words are heaven. I have an inner knowing Lord Jesus because you said so: '... behold the kIngdom of God is within you.' (Lk. 17:21)"

I would say to 'God:' "What is this, you running some kind of exclusive night club? Are you checking out whether I'm 'cool' enough to get in? I am very, very, very disappointed in you, O Lord! Very disappointed!"

That is exactly what I would say. Cross my heart!

Wow I wonder if anyone that answered this question 5 years ago are still around.
To answer the question I would say...that I have been there and done that and was asked nothing and was shown compassion and love throughout my whole ordeal.  People just do not read Jesus and what he told all of us.  He said The Kingdom of God is within us and all the laws are also within our hearts and minds and to be careful with our thoughts and love one another and do unto others as we would want them to do unto us.  God is not OUTSIDE of us.  We are all part of each other.  All the answers that we seek are within us.  Ask and you shall recieve, seek and you shall find.

I am glad to finally meet a huber with the right question on this subject,  because it is based on his invite as you recognize in the first part of the question , people
Seem to think they have access to the Heavenly Realms of God, we do not, Jehovah and Jesus are spirit bodies who would have to change humans from
    Flesh to spirit bodies.
But as written good people before Jesus arrived on earth was not in heaven,  notice Jesus words ,
Joh 3:13 Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but the one who descended from heaven, the Son of man.
Who were the good people, Enoch,  Noah , David,  Job, Ester, John the Baptist,  Abraham,  Sarah, Jacob, Esau,
    Hanah, Samuel,  many more ,
But Jesus said no man had been to heaven as you see here stated.
Martha when Lazerus died said these words

Joh 11:24 Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
She said these words to Jesus because she was in the presence of Gods son who knows all truth.
So did Jesus say she was wrong, no , what did he do
Return his life force back from his grave site, he did not come from heavens in a cloud no he was still wrapped in cloth from his grave.
The point is humans are certainly dependent on Jehovah and Jesus where they will in the future.

Re 1:18 and the living one, and I became dead, but look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of the Grave.

Whats very interesting is this scripture  !
Lu 11:52“Woe to you who are versed in the Law, because you took away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not go in, and you hinder those going in!” being versed or knowing the bible does not save you.

Thank GOD I live under "GRACE;" "the key of knowledge" (aka HOLY SPIRIT) & NOT the LAW!
WORD doesn't save? "Faith comes by hearing & hearing by WORD" why HE SAID "STUDY!"
But having FAITH in TWISTED man made doctrine, u "won't enter" (Heb3

this question and most of the answers show a terrible lack of understanding of scripture.      This could NOT HAPPEN.   Scripture is clear, God will not ask you a question.    There are NO 2nd chances when you face God.     Your destination has been settled before you meet Him.     He will look in the book of life and if your name is there you are admitted to His Eternal kingdom. if not you are cast into the lake of fire to destruction.
