Love only comes to a few because they are able to recognise it, but those who never find love, its because they may have an imaginative concept of it so they wouldn't know even if it slapped them in the face.
Others expect too much from love, they don't think about the giving aspect, all they want is to get love.
At the end, it depends on the type person and their destiny. Don't go searching for love, let love find you.

Everyone has their own (must have traits) lists for a mate. Some people don't bother to work on (themselves) in order to "attract" a "suitable mate". Others are holding onto an idea of something that does not exist.
So much of searching for "The One" is tied to how (few options) we leave for ourselves.  If one says "Mr/Ms. Right" must be of a certain race, a particular relgion, live in a certain country/state/town...etc (That eliminates Billions of people right off the bat!) That's BEFORE you get to height, weight, education, career, health habits, hobbies/interests, and sense of humor. Lastly you want your friends & family to like them as well as theirs liking you.
There is no "perfect person" for anyone. Those who are looking for "perfection" will never find it. The longer one's list is the less likely they're going to find love. A person has to determine what's really "important" to them before selecting a mate. Not everything on the typical list has the same weight or value. There is a difference between (would be nice to have) and (must haves).

“Love isn’t finding a perfect person. It’s seeing an imperfect person perfectly.” – Sam Keen

Everyone has different lessons they're supposed to learn in life.  I believe that.  Therefore some people need to learn to be alone, some need to learn to be with others.  I'm sure it's deeper than that.  I believe in karma, the law of action-reaction of the universe, and also reincarnation.
