What advice would you give to newlyweds?

The struggles of life are hard enough without adding to it the trials of marriage. What can you share to help newly married couples not make some of the same mistakes.

Enjoy it while you can. The newness will wear off, and things will change.

Don't rush into starting a family. Enjoy each other, travel, and (prepare financially) for the future whether that includes buying a house, having children, or launching a business. Ideally you want to (plan) your future rather than let (circumstances) dictate it.

Develop your sense of humor, it will serve you well and don't take yourselves too seriously.

    Be willing to talk

Know that marriage is work- good work and worth it, but it only lasts if you're willing to do the work as well as have the fun

Commit to your marriage- be too stubborn to throw it away if challenges arise

Like each other as well as love each other.

Take responsibility for your own happiness. Don't make your partner the one who has to make you happy

And talk to each other like someone you love...

(speaking from 23 years of marriage to my best friend as of this August)

(oh, and remember that the most romantic thing is not flowers or dinner, but rather someone who'll help you to the bathroom when you've got a bad stomach flu....)
