   I hear that people post fake profiles to trick people.

   No more dangerous than anywhere else.  You will find people with questionable motives anywhere, that's why it's very important to always exercise common sense.  Never meet someone alone in a non-public place, be sure to take a long time to get to know a person etc. It's no different than if you met someone at an event or in the supermarket or something - you still exercise caution and don't spend time alone with someone you aren't yet comfortable with etc.  I would say good people far outweigh the bad and we have become overly paranoid as a society, instead of just exercising good old common sense.

   Sure, but so can meeting someone in a bar! You have to be just as careful, and anyone who says: "you can trust me....", you pribably can't. Trust you can only determine on your own. Not because somene tells you to.

   No more dangerous than most other places you meet the sex of your choosing.
   Work- yikes- that's a minefield.  Bars- now of course everyone is 100 percent authentic in bars and clubs.  The biggest danger is your ego- get ready to dish it out and take it UNLESS you have no standards and no concern for who you want to be with, in which case it's a candy store where all the candy is on sale!!!!

   It can be. Because do tend to lie about who they really are. My advice is take precaution if you plan to meet up with them.

   I think they can be dangerous but even if you meet someone at the grocery store, you never know what they are capable of. If you do choose online dating you have to be careful just as much as you would going on a blind date. I met the love of my life on a dating site and although we moved very slow at first things worked out for us. We are planning on getting married soon.

   They can be. there had been horrible stories documented about the horrors of online dating.You just have to be very careful and be vigilant to people who you chat communicate with.
