I think the first step is to really evaluate your other part before jumping into marriage.
If you get someone with a good character, going down the road will be easier. Also, always get someone who values the same things as you do. Then, you can learn to trust and value each other, and communicate, together.
Marriages last if you keep up to your word. Being committed is a huge part of a marriage, If you are faithful, communicative, trustworthy, respectful and love your partner and accept each other there and have time for each a marriage can last long.
