Who is someone you compare yourself to most often and how?
We all put ourselves up against someone else. It drives innovation, procreation, and most of society. The trick is to do it without letting it get a egotistical grip on you.
It is so common for one to compare oneself with somebody, who is famous, beautiful or rich and try to become that person. But in becoming that person, one will lose one's true identity and will fail to know one's qualities and good traits. It is better to be oneself and to know one's good qualities than to compare oneself with somebody.
I don't compare myself with anybody but if like that person, I try to emulate his good qualites and virtues. I thank him for what he has offered me to emulate.
Very good point about trying to emulate a person with positive qualities. I agree with what you mentioned about find yourself but I feel like the truth is that most people don't do this and instead compare. I don't think this is always bad.
I believe younger people are more incline to play the comparison game. The older you get you realize that life is a personal journey and you have to run your (own) race.
