Why women like Bad Boys?

Updated on June 17, 2011

Have you ever wondered why some women are so attracted to bad boys?

Bad Boys have a very bad reputation, they are dangerous; but most women cannot resist their charm even when they know that they might end up hurt. With their hot looks, their self confidence, their power to attract women even when they don’t try, bad boys can be incredibly sexy and challenging.

For me, being a bad boy it is not about treating women like dirt. Being a bad boy is about being confident, self assured, having a rough look, protecting your women. Remember ladies, there is a fine line but a big difference between a bad boy and a jerk.

I cannot speak for everyone, but here you can find out why I find bad boys so attractive.

Because they are inaccessible.

A bad boy is not easy to catch. You might succeed at getting him into your bed but getting him to stick with you and only you is an entirely different matter. Bad boys are challenging, and because we cannot have them, we want them more. We want to be special; we want to be the girl who is going to make them fall madly in love. What can be more challenging than making Mr. Bad boy go completely head over heels about you? What can be more ego boosting than transforming a wild bull into a tame rabbit at your feet?

Because they are incredibly Macho

Bad boys are usually big and strong –at least compared to us- and they make us feel little and protected at the same time. You know that when you are out and about with your bad boy no one will dare touch you.

Because they are mysterious.

Women are curious beings, we are attracted by mystery. Bad guys are never open books, they are always “hiding” something; whether is their origins, their weaknesses or whereabouts, they always have secrets and us women are attracted to that aura of mystery, we are attracted to that dark side that we have not yet discovered.

Because bad boys love taking risks

And we love risks too! You know that with a bad boy the word routine doesn’t exist.  He will always be doing something new and risky, whether is taking you for a motorbike bike ride, a surfing weekend or simply a rock concert, you know that your days with Mr. Bad boy will never be boring.

Some legendary Bad boys

Some of the most legendary celebrity bad boys, whether it is for their public bad behaviour, explosive bad temper, their tattoos or their “I don’t care” look are:

Russell Crowe

The Australian actor has a temper so explosive, that he was arrested for throwing a phone at a hotel employee’s head when he couldn’t help him place a call.

Colin Farrell

The Irish actor who has been involved in all kind of scandals from addiction with recreational and prescription drugs to sex tape scandals is one of the sexiest and most desired men in the world.

Jude Law

This British bad boy is a heart breaker with his philandering ways. Not long ago he was arrested for attacking a photographer.

Jesse Metcalfe

The pretty Jesse is known not only for his acting talent but also for his alcohol abuse and flirtatious behaviour.

Johnny Depp

Famous for his tattoos, drug abuse, hotel trashing and high-profile romances, Johnny Depp is probably an exception in the list of bad boys as he seems to have settled down to become a family man with Vanessa Paradis.

Hi,Anath! GREAT hub. GREAT writing too. Admire your talent. Voted up and away. Loved the topic, Bad boys. It is amazing. I have this running arguement with my daughter that of all the guys on earth, Brad Pitt included, I would love to be Colin Farrell for only 1 day. He IS the bad boy of all time. I am now a fan of YOURS and a follower if that is okay by you. Sincerely, Kenneth Avery, from a rural town, Hamilton, in northwest Alabama, that reminds tourists of Mayberry, where Andy and Barney worked.

These conversations always amuse me. Come on didn't any of you guys experience being a bad boy as a kid? Even a little bit? Damn, I have the opposite problem. I try to be nice and stay out of trouble but there's that devil on my shoulder again. You don't need to ask anyone about how to be a bad boy. It's just your natural primal selfish side. Most nice guys are afraid of that side of themselves so they act like pussies. Being a complete man means being whole, integrate the light and the dark. Yin and Yang. Stop acting like some politically correct sensitive guy with a pony tail and start being yourself, direct, say what you mean, go after what you want. In other words just be a man. You can still be a good person, just go after what you want, sex, fun, love and don't take shit from anyone, especially women who mistreat you. Just get in touch with your primal self and forget about going for a look. You just look like a poser that way. Wear whatever the hell you want. Most guys think they are being themselves but they are being phoney. Ask yourself this question. Are you nicer to a woman you are interested in than you are to other people? Then you aren't as nice as you think you are. Being nice is your way to win over the woman, too bad it doesn't work. Treat people right but don't kiss ass. To sum it up, do what you want, go for what you want and don't give a damn about what anyone else thinks.

You nailed it when you said we like bad boys because they're 'inaccessible' ! Yes, it's easy to get them but to get them to stay is what fuels the fire...! Loved this hub...insightful I must add...!

I do believe you have summed it all up. Women like a challenge and bad boys are just that. More like undisciplined children than the average man. The mothering instinct comes to the fore and the lady tries to teach right from wrong. Hurt as she may be she will forgive and try again. He is her baby she must pull him back to the right path.

I have lost count of the number of mothers who proudly (yes proudly) announce the bad deeds of their child. It's the same thing.

Personally I think a little corporal punishment would not go amiss. I know its an old cliche but 'It never did me any harm' and I respect women and would never go out of my way to hurt anyone.

I think that a man IS a bad boy because he is, trying to be one is not the same rprcarz50. Never mind, at the end we always end up with the good guy :)

You said it Money Glitch, it is fun while it lasts; besides, sometimes is us -bad girls- who decide that it is time to move on to someone more challenging ;-)

Okay, you've obviously tapped into my 'shower cam' and 'bedroom cam'...but why did you have to write a hub about me? ...Ha-ha! Pay the bad boy toll and/or fee, and I'll let you get 10% of our 'webcam profits' via online revenue... LOL!

Yep, it is a mind game, nothing more... Wanting something that isn't granted, often becomes an obsession... :)
