Come See A man

The Witness Of Jesus

Jesus had just finished talking to the woman at the well, she was amazed with how he had spoken to her. In her astonishment she ran out saying (John 4:29) " Come see a man, which told me all things that I ever did: is not this the Christ?" Simple and sure of what she was speaking the lady had testified openly on the streets. Come see a man. How pure hearted this is as she was in awe of Christ. What a simple message, she did not elaborate, she did not make a drawn out theological proof of Jesus, she simply said, "Come see a man." I am more than sure we all have the same capability in us to do this very work. Simply and purely asking those we meet each day to come see a man. This is the first street witness mentioned by Jesus in our Bible. She was so convicted she had to tell the towns people of Jesus. She had to share the message of the one who gives the living waters that you will never thirst again. She ran to the streets and just said, 'come see a man".

Tracts Door Hangings

These may be a conversation starter but leave it at that. Do not let this be your sole work. Door to door tract giving is an awesome thing and a neighborhood may be canvassed in little time. Not every one you see will talk but most will accept a tract. Be sure when someone is there you hand it to them and ask in a pleasant manner to see them visit your church. When they respond that they have their own church smile and let them know you are pleased to hear that and encourage their attendance in that home church. No, you may not agree with what kind of church it is, so what, you have shown the love of God. A seed has been planted. A later follow up may even harvest that seed.

THE FIRST STREET PREACHER

There were one day four rough, tough men mending fishing nets readying their boats to go fishing. This was their livelihood. As they worked a man approached and again simply said," Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men." Yes, that was Jesus. He had just called out Peter, Andrew, James, and John. The Bible goes on to say that they IMMEDIATELY left their nets and followed Him. The first witness of street preaching yielded four men to carry on the message of Christ.

Jesus in these two examples displays the method we are to take in spreading his Word. The work is done in the streets. It is public.

Carrying The Cross

I hope you take time to watch this strong soldier of Christ in the video below. He walked 18 days carrying the cross from Augusta, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida. WOW! The spirit got a hold of him and the power of Jesus Christ flowed through him as he spoke. We may not all preach like this on the street, but, if you listened closely to his testimony God took care of him. He had food, water, shelter from people coming out to help him. That is God's promise. Jesus said," I will NEVER leave you nor FORSAKE you." Give it to Jesus, give your life to be a shining example as this dear brother had done.

Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God

Jesus said these words then added," and all these things will be given thee." Humbly before the throne of God we seek His glory in our lives, we seek Hie will to be done in our lives. I have read a small book by John MacArthur ~ Found: God's Will. It explains finding God's will in your life. You may want to witness on the streets and have a desire to do so, but you are asking God is this your will for me. He says within the book that God's will is you be: saved, Spirit filled, sanctified, submissive, and suffering. If you can put this all together and live this way for Him then what you desire to share as His work is perfectly within His will for you in your life. Outside of God's Word I believe this may be the most important book I have ever read. I highly recommend it for every Christian to read. It is a very small book and can be read in about 30 minutes.

Reducing the population of Hell

What You Do Is Up To You

Sometimes I simply wear a shirt that brings up conversations. ( See my hub, A Big Mac and A Sermon Please) Other times I will speak to just one or two people and not loudly, not like I am there to draw a crowd. Just being a witness for Jesus. Then there are planned times of hitting the streets, cross in tow and preaching the Gospel. Sometimes it is a good time just carrying the cross and not speaking unless approached. Why? There comes the interest. The people coming up to talk opens a mighty door. Did you watch the video? The man was explaining what he was doing for Christ. He was simply talking. Then as the Spirit of God gave him utterance he let go proclaiming the Gospel. I love the line that he is about the Father's work to reduce the population of Hell. He compassionately wants to see America come to the cross. This is our endeavor as Christians to bring the lost to the cross. Let them lay their debt of sin at the foot of the cross covered by the blood of the Lamb Jesus Christ

You may preach in a mighty way, you may simply speak one on one with very few words, but friends SHARE the Gospel, AMEN!
