The Model for Kingdom Discipleship
Discipleship - Is do what you see me doing.- Part 1
Matthew 28:1. This is the great commission; this is one of the references in all four gospels of the great commission. Now I want to start here and work backward. Now we must reclaim that which is the truth. Verse 16 of Matthew 28 says, "Then the 11 disciples went out to all of Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him, they worshipped Him; but some doubted." verse 18, "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority, in heaven and on earth, has been given to Me'." Now note that please. I know you're familiar with it but it’s the centerpiece of what I want to talk about
"All authority, in heaven and on earth, has been given to Me". Now would you say that that makes Him King of heaven and earth? I’d say if it doesn't, then what does it mean that He has all authority, in heaven and on earth? So He's king, He's the absolute sovereign. "All authority, in heaven and on earth, has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you; and surely, I am with you always, even to the very end of the age."
Now Jesus says go and make disciples, teach them. What we have come to is this: Baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit has been a religious event. And then we think after that, we are to teach them the doctrines of our church; teach them the things that we have grown up with. And then by this knowledge they will become true disciples of Jesus. Is that more of less what we have understood it to be? Did you notice that Jesus said, "Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you,"? What is a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ? We have identified that there is a problem in that people are wandering around aimlessly, selecting, picking and choosing who they will listen to and what they will listen to; what they hear and by this process they hope to become disciples of Jesus.
And that’s carrying out another preexisting process that simply says, "Come into our church, come into our environment and we will teach you the traditions of the scriptures that we have embraced. So its all about teaching people, whether it’s new people teaching or whether their being taught the traditions of our denominations and so on; but the emphasis is on teaching them, on imparting information to them. That’s not what Jesus says makes a disciple, its not how Jesus defines a disciple. He says a disciple is someone who "Obeys Me in everything". Did I miss something? And yet the sound of this is at once familiar and unfamiliar because you've read the scripture before that says, "Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you". But because the emphasis has been on teaching rather than obeying, we now assume that because people get the information they're obeying.
Now, hold on, I’m just laying out the foundation here. So in the book of Acts, as Jesus is commissioning His disciples, in Acts 1:7 He says, after they asked Him 'Lord are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel now?', and Jesus had just told them that they would baptized by the Holy Spirit not many days after now. After that, He said to them, concerning their question about restoring the kingdom to Israel He says, "It is not for you to know the times or the dates that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be My witness's." Witnesses to what? I’m just raising the question; we'll come back to it.
"You will be My witness's in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” Witness’s to what? Is Jesus in the habit of using words that have no real meaning? Or does He actually mean that His disciples were witnesses to something? What did they see? And what is it that qualifies them now, to go and testify or be witnesses of this thing? What is it that they saw that they're now to go and testify to? Let’s back up.
"Go and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.” The moment you hear that, you know what you think? 'You mean that we are to go and teach people to obey everything in the Old Testament and obey everything in the New Testament?' And immediately you're thinking 'Just go ahead and shoot me now.' Did I hit the mark? Shoot me now, put me out of my misery. Because they couldn't obey the Old Testament and you for sure can’t obey everything in the New Testament. Question: Did Jesus carry a bunch of scrolls under His arm as He walked around, hoping to be able to unroll the scroll in a moments notice and point out WWJD? No. That’s a religious idea. To obey Jesus and define it by being able to obey all the laws of the Old Testament and make the new testament now into another set of laws and obey that, that’s a religious idea, that’s a concept that we have superimposed upon the great commission. He didn't carry around a bunch of scrolls trying to figure out what He should do in the moment. No.
What is it that He’s telling His disciples to go and do? He says, "Go and make disciples and teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you." What did Jesus Himself do while He was on the earth? He did nothing except what the Father was doing. What scroll did He need to read to figure out what the Father was doing? How did He know what the Father was doing, did He know what the Father was doing? I mean, if He doesn’t He's really in big trouble, He's a big liar as the kids would say. Because He said, "I only do what I see My Father doing." Did He know what the Father was doing? Sure. The Father loved the Son and showed Him what He was doing.
Exactly how did the Father show Him what He was doing? By the Spirit of the Father who lived in Him. On one occasion, in the 13th chapter of the book Luke or John, one of His disciples said 'Show us the Father and that'll be enough, we wont ask You any other questions, You’ve just been telling us that I only do what I see the Father doing, whatever the Father is doing that’s what the Son is doing, I only do what I see My Father doing; so show us the Father. In this whole time that You've been carrying on like this we haven’t seen the Father. If You'll show us the Father, have the Father pop out from behind You and say 'Hi guys' and pop back in, we’ll be happy with that.' And He says, 'How long have I been with you? Do you not understand that it is the Father living in Me who is doing His work? If you don’t believe the words I’m saying to you, believe the miracles that I have done. You think that I go around looking for things to do to help God out, I am telling you I have given to God in time and space a vessel in which He can live. And I consciously hear what He's telling Me to do and I’m doing that; day by day, moment by moment. I’m not reading scrolls to figure out what the commandments are that I should do, I have the One who is the Living God; I have Him living in Me and He's telling Me what to do every moment'.
We have forgotten, this is a way of life. It’s not just obeying commandments, its obeying directions. If the Spirit said 'Don't go back to Capernaum the next morning but go over toward perhaps Tiberius', what do you do? That’s not a commandment that has been reduced to writing in the old testament, that’s about a way of life that governs what you do 24/7. Our problem is that we don’t believe that God intends to live in men in this kind of directing intimacy, we don’t believe that. We are still on the outside looking in, on the outside looking into God, thinking that the way that we are to please God is find the commandment, find the suggestion in scripture, and do it. In that case we are the ones who decide what God is actually doing in the moment because we are the ones who are applying word to some situation.
The four gospels are not a rule book that tell us how to live like Jesus lived; they are the testimony, the written evidence, that He only did what He saw the Father doing. You see what we've done? We’ve taken the text and we have tried, with our own intelligence, to replicate it as we go along life’s journey when the text is a testimony of an existing relationship between the Father and the Son and the text records for us the truth that He only did what He saw the Father doing.
What was it that His disciples saw; to what are they witnesses? they are witness's to the fact that 24/7 for three and a half years, in their company (and they were with Him all the time), in their company, they observed that this Man only did what He saw the Father doing; that’s what they were to be witness's of. How do you make a disciple, what is a disciple? He sent these 12 who had seen what He had done, had observed for three and half years, how He consistently obeyed the Father, He sent them to make disciples by saying to them 'You saw how I obeyed My Father, now you go among the people and you obey the Spirit that I’m about to send you, who will guide you into all the truth, for He is the Spirit of the truth; He is the Spirit of My Father. And if you will receive Him and follow Him, you will do in the world what I did in the world and people will see you doing this and the ones I draw to Myself, they will be introduced to a way of life that you have pioneered. Your manner, your conversation of life is, you go among mankind, I’m going to sprinkle you for the Kingdom of heaven is like a little leaven which a woman took and hid in 2 measures of meal and it leavened the whole lump. I am going to leaven you, I’m going to send you as leaven into the dough.'
What is the leaven that you are going to be? Not the leaven of the Pharisees. You are going to walk among mankind demonstrating that it is possible like I walked with My Father moment by moment; it is possible for others to do the same. And as I draw men to Myself, you teach them by your life and example among them, your life and example in which you regularly obey Me. You teach them to obey Me, in everything.'
That’s what He sent His disciples to do. Why is He so hung up on 'Obeying Me'? I mean, can’t we just give Him some stuff from time to time and wouldn’t He be happy with that? What’s this about 'Obeying Me'? I said in Los Angeles, on the spot where the revival broke out 100 years ago; I said the reason we're not making disciples anymore is because the leaders themselves are not followers of Jesus. The Spirit of the Lord was upon me and I said stuff that I could hear myself saying and in a primal way I wanted to reach out and grab it and put it back but it was (God ?? gone). I said because to be disciples today you’d have to actually obey what the Lord is saying, moment by moment. And I said the leaders today are not interested in obeying the Lord therefore they can’t make disciples because you can’t make someone into something you're not. I said that’s why the people are in this condition. And I said this is the condition of which the scriptures speak when they say, "For the Kingdom has suffered violence" I said this is the violence that the Kingdom has suffered. You have said that it’s the world that has suffered violence but I say to you that it’s the Kingdom that has suffered the violence of the hirelings and the thieves who have come into the Lords house. And I said He is tired of it and I’m here on this spot to declare to you that this era in the church is over for you will face the wrath of God now if you continue in this present direction. I said as an example you are going to see huge ministries suddenly falter and fail, its all on record, in fact you were there. At first she thought ‘I’m being introduced as the wife of this man.’ And after awhile she was thinking, you know ‘What ever happens to him might happen to me, I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. I think I’ll go have a walk, a walk around the parking lot.’ Sometimes the Lord will take you to a place to show you with clarity what you need to see.
Let’s backtrack; why do you obey the Lord? Why is it that we are called to obey Him? Let’s go back to the second Psalm; mark the second Psalm, I’m coming to it, I thought of something else I want to put in here. I want you to note an interesting construction… you know, Scarlet, I miss the fact that we used to have talks about things like these. Matthew 1 says this, "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." Now you know very well that the scriptures do not use terms that have no significance. It struck us immediately; this genealogy of Jesus is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. And then it begins Abraham was the father of Isaac..so it begins actually with Abraham. Why does it reference the genealogy first to David? Why didn’t he just say, 'This is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of Abraham' and then in the list of genealogy, when he comes to David; the son of Jesse the son of David and so on? Why did he not simply do that? Why does he say "This is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham," and then begins with Abraham?
Tell me, you know the answer. This is the record of Him being the King. This is the record, because God had promised that a King would be born Who would restore the order and peace to humanity, which order and peace had been lost when Adam sinned. That a King would be raised up, the One who would rule would be King. "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government shall be upon His shoulders." Why a king? We know the title of this King; He's called 'The Prince of Peace'. 'Shar shalom', the Prince of Peace. Well why would He bring peace, why do you call Him the Prince of Peace? What does peace mean?
The Hebrew word for peace is the word 'shalom', 4 symbols to the word 'shalom'. 'Shin', 'lamed', 'waw' and 'mem', characters in the word 'peace', 'shalom'. Shin means 'to destroy'; lamed is 'authority'; waw is 'to establish'; and mem is 'disorder'.The Prince of Peace is the One who destroys the authority that establishes disorder.
Who has established disorder? Satan. "For this reason the Son of God has been revealed, to destroy the works of the devil." He is the Prince of peace because He shatters the schemes of the enemy and reconciles men to God; that’s why He's the Prince of peace. Not because He walks around sprinkling fairy dust, making you feel good. He overthrows the schemes of your enemy that separate you and God, and in that He makes peace. This is the peace of total conquest, not of compromise and accord.
So the name of the King is 'shar shalom' or Prince of peace, because it defines His kingship. He brings peace by restoring men to God. It is this office that God designed and through human flesh through Jacobs’s son Judah, the leading tribe among the 12 would be Judah, because from Judah the King would arise. "The scepter would not pass from Judah." David is the first king that God anoints from the tribe of Judah. you know hwy God did not anoint Saul as king? Because God had already said that the kings would come from Judah, the people chose the Benjaminite, Saul because he was head and shoulders above the rest and he looked like a king. the peoples choice was' Give us the Benjamanite" but God had committed Himself in the flesh to the kingly line out of Judah because God wasn't just to put a king on the throne of Israel, God was going to raise up His Anointed One to restore the order of God and man. And in the flesh He would have to come from the tribe of Judah! King to arise out of the tribe of Judah, God anointed as king was David. That’s why it says this is the genealogy of the king! This is the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David so I’m going to talk to you about God's salvation, when He comes as King! This genealogy is about Him as King, the King that arises to restore the order that had been lost!
Now I began with the gospel that says 'Go and make disciples and disciple them in this way; teach them to obey Me in everything. I’m about to show you why that s the only appropriate requirement, that nothing else will do. And I’ve begun by laying out, first, that He is the King, He is that King who legitimately comes out of the line prophesied, to come from Judah. The first of the kings, the first of the human kings out of the line of Judah, is David. God could not have chosen the Benjaminite as king. Why? Because He had already sworn that the kings would come from Judah. Are you with me?
You know what struck me about most christians; was how schooled this people are in everything from the prayer of Jebez; and how ignorant the people are of the foundations of their faith.
"This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased"
"If you see Me, you see the Father"- Part 2
Because there is no integrity in this to withstand the trials, even of the present age; let alone what is to come. And if God did not address this thing now, there would not be a remnant because the people are so scattered and removed from a fundamental attachment to the things of God.
Now come with me to the prophetic Psalm that shows us the installation of the King. Verse 1, Psalm 2, now this is a Psalm of David and David is speaking prophetically; you know David was a prophet. I didn’t say that, Peter said it on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2. He said, "Our father David is dead but he was a prophet," you remember this, he was a prophet. This is a prophetic Psalm, "Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One". Following September 11th we saw something happen in this nation that should have chilled you to the bone. When fear came into the country, following the bombings, the people’s response was to say, "Let us create a religion, let’s agree to a religion, in which all men are brothers regardless of their faith." Did you see that? I saw it; it was in the national cathedral it was carried live.
And we had evangelical preachers, some of the most famous in this country, come before Jewish rabbis, Muslim clerics, they even had a western American Indian medicine man to be sure they included everybody. Cause the idea was, "If we setup a religion in which we proclaim all men are brothers, then no man would have a motivation for striking his brother." I guess they had not read the prophecy that said his hand would be against every man, I read that somewhere. It’s what the angel said to Hagar about the child that she had given birth to. It said, "His hand will be against every man and every man’s hand will be against him." That’s the 16th chapter of the Book of Genesis. In this conversation that concerned this child of hers, it said it doesn't matter how you placate him, his hand is gonna be against you.
But after his descendents flew planes into the world trade center, the foolish men of this age decided this prophecy really couldn't be true so lets concoct a religion that gives him no excuse to keep doing this to us; its what they did. Now the problem with God being the Father of us all is, either Jesus is correct or the spirit of the age is correct. For Jesus describes God in this way, the scriptures define God in this way, "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." It means the only God that the believer in Jesus Christ CAN recognize, the only God you can recognize is the One who is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He’s not therefore Allah, He's not the great spirit, He's not the wind in the willows. He’s the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, or we got a different God.
But we embraced it, nationally. And a few days later, of course, Oprah got in on the act and she had her 'holy convocation' at Madison square garden, the scene of every good entertainment because He who sat in the heavens had a good laugh at Oprah's convocation. But it says in the 2nd Psalm, it says, "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh." Madison square garden is a place of entertainment. They had good entertainment because He who sat in the heavens had a good laugh, when all the kings of the earth came together and rulers and their rulers and said, "Let us put away the prejudice of religion that says there is only one way to God. You can come to God any way you please because after all you are almost nearly god yourself.”
It’s the spirit of the age. Here it says, "Why do the nations conspire and the people plot in vain. The kings of the earth take their stand,” they stand, they use their influence, “and the rulers together," and against whom do they stand? "Against the Lord and against the Lord's Anointed." They stand against the two. Actually they stand against the 3 manifestations, for its the Lord's Anointed and in that you can find the Holy Spirit. Take their stand against the Lord, the Hebrew word for 'Anointed' is the word 'Meshach', the Greek word is 'Christus'. They say come let us take our stand against God and the Lord Jesus Christ, Who by the anointing of the Spirit is the Christ; lets stand against the Person of God.
How do they want to stand? "Let us break Their chains and throw off Their fetters," lets resist Them. In other words, ‘Their restraints are too many for us; their restraints are too honorous for us. We don’t like the idea that we have to obey Them. We don’t like the idea that They decide and we must obey. So let’s resist Them, lets get rid of Them.’ "He who sits in the heavens shall laugh, the Lord scoffs at them, then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath saying, 'I have installed My King on Zion My holy hill". What’s God's answer to the kings who have said, these are kings now, men of great influence, opinion leaders, world leaders; if you put it in contemporary vernacular.
They say "We will now define godliness to suit us, we are tired of 'I am the Way and the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me'; that’s too narrow. Choose the god you want, choose the way you want, and go that way. and lets all call each other brother and say that the god we serve is not that God, not the One who can be described exclusively as the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ'." Because if you say the Jesus is the only way to God and you reject Him as the way, then the god you are going to is by another way. Therefore it is another god or Jesus is wrong. Are you with me? It’s not complicated logic.
If the One that Jesus says is God is accessed only through Him and you say "No, we will go to God in any way we please," then you're not going to the God that He says is God. Either that or He's wrong, you can come to the true God anyway you please. Its one or the other, it’s not complicated. So let us understand, when the world says, "We can come to God anyway we want to," the god your talking about is not the god who is God. Do you understand that? If you turn away from Jesus, either He’s wrong and God is not accessible exclusively through Him but by any means that you care to. If God actually decides that its gonna be that way. "So Jesus is wrong, lets dispense with Him," or if Jesus is right, any other god you come to is not the god that He says that He is the way to.
You must understand something, today men everywhere are talking about God, but if this is not the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, if Jesus is not the exclusive way to this God, from our point of view the word 'God' is a sham. Then saying they have a relationship with God, if Oprah’s view is that God is anyone you can access in any way you please, don’t be fooled by the fact that she uses the word 'god', its another god; its not the true God. Don’t get into arguments with people about whether or not Jesus is the Way, He is the Way. If you're a believer in Jesus, He is the Way to the only God that there is, the only way to the only God that there is.
If you get into the argument about whether or not..you hear her say the word 'god' (and I just use her because she is the guru of this age) but she is speaking for an idea that is commonly embraced today. When you hear people talk about God then, in those context, they're talking about somebody other than the true God. If they're talking about anything at all, it’s someone other than the true God; it’s another god. And it may as well be a demon as it be the wind. Do you hear what I’m saying? If you don’t clear up the cobwebs in your heads, you're well on your way toward being deceived.
So God's answer, and here is the opposite end of the spectrum; God's answer to the kings who say, "We'll do away with the true God and we'll do away with His Anointed," God's answer is this, "I have established My King. You kings, deal with My King. My answer to you and to your challenge when you say 'Let us break Their bands let us set aside Their influence, My answer to you is, 'I have established My King'." Now the conversation turns away, at this moment, from the kings who say about God and the Anointed One, 'Lets break His bands', the conversation now is between God who says 'I will appoint My King’ and the King whom He's appointed. Here He goes and it says, verse 7, "I will proclaim the decree of the Lord." Now why is that stuck in there? Because we know who the Lord is because He had just said, "The kings of the earth stand against the Lord and against the Lord's Anointed," so we know who the Lord is and we know who His Anointed is. When it refers to the Lord here, it’s referring to the Living God; when it’s referring to the Anointed, it’s referring to the Lord Jesus Christ.
So now that helps us to understand when in verse 7 someone says, "I will proclaim the decree of the Lord." Who is speaking? We know about whom He is speaking He is saying, 'I will proclaim the decrees of the Almighty'. Who has the power and authority to proclaim the decrees of the Almighty? The Anointed One. So God has just said, 'I'm going to setup My King' and His King, whom He now sets up, makes a decree. Because you see, kings rule by decrees. The newly installed King issues His first decree. Now what do you suppose the first decree of a newly installed king would be? What is my rule going to be about. You don’t start to administrate the policy until you've articulated your governing policy.
His first decree says, "This is what My rule is always going to be about: I will do only what I see the Father doing." There it is, I will declare the decrees of the Lord. The newly installed King issues the defining statement of His rule. "In everything thing I do, as long as I sit upon the throne upon which You have placed Me, O’ God, I will do Your will; I will do ONLY Your will. I will only do what I see You doing.” He makes the declaration and pronouncement that governs the sphere of His rule, the scope of His rule. So now God says to Him, Gods says to the King who just declares, 'I will declare the decrees of the Lord'. This is what God says, this is what the 'Lord said to My Lord'. This is Acts now, 'The Lord said to My Lord, sit thou on My throne till I..." do you see how all this fits together?
The Lord says "He said to Me", Jesus says the Father told Him, "He said to Me 'You are My son, today I have become Your Father’.” Oh my. Do you understand now before He comes into the world as the King, He exists. He is the equal of God, He doesn’t count it robbery to be on equal terms with God. The scriptures tell us that He is about to leave His exalted state in which He is God, He is the Word of God, He is the Wisdom of the Ages. He's about to come into time to be installed by the Living God as the King who would reconcile men to God by destroying the authority that would establish disorder. He’d come into the world through the lineage of David; He would be the descendant of David to sit on the throne that God established when He established David. But He will rule, not like David, the nation of Israel, but He'll rule 'the nations' with the intent of reconciling man to God.
So He's coming, and as He comes out of heaven into the world, God gives Him the greatest honor imaginable because He has said, "I will obey every decree of My God, I will only do what I see My Father doing." And so God says to Him, "Today then, You are My Son. You're going to come into the world not as David’s son, not as Jacobs’s son, not even as Judah’s son; when You come into the world You are going to be installed in the highest seat and I will call You My Son." What happened the day He was baptized and came up out of the water to begin His rule on the earth? What happened? The Spirit of God descended on Him in the form of a dove and a voice was heard out of heaven saying....do you think this stuff just all happened, God was making up the script as He went along? No. God said, "When I bring My Firstborn into the world, I will say, 'Let all of God's angels worship Him because He is My Son’." And then in Hebrews 1 He says, "Your throne O'God will be established forever and forever and righteousness will be the scepter of Your kingdom, for You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity, therefore God, Your God, will set You above Your companions and will anoint You," (that’s what you do with kings) "will anoint You with the oil of joy.
This is the investiture of the King. And then God in a grand sweep, having installed His King whom He calls His Son; by the way whenever you decide to obey Him, God also calls you ‘My son’. This stuff is good! Laughter.. Hallelujah. Makes you wanna holler. This is the foundation of the truth, this is the unshakable kingdom. Because it’s established in the earth by decrees from heaven where God says, "You are My Son". And then in this grand gesture, having installed His King, having given Him dominion, God says, "Ask of Me. What will You ask of Me? You have decided that the mandate of Your rule is to do what I am doing." "I will confine My rule to Your pleasure O'God." The scripture says of the Lord Jesus Christ, "And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hands."
What is the pleasure of the Lord? To reconcile men to God. God says, "I will cause My pleasure to prosper under Your rule." What is the pleasure of the Lord? To reconcile men to God. So God says to the Son, "Ask of Me and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance." Do you think God gave Him the nations for His inheritance? I will tell where it is in the scriptures that God absolutely did. In Daniel 7:13 and 14, scriptures say, Daniel speaking said, "I saw in the night visions and behold, one like the Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven." And in the parenthesis insert Acts 1:9, “And while they beheld He was taken up and a cloud received Him out of their sight." So the prophetic vision of Jesus returning to heaven, recorded in Acts 1, was prophesied in Daniel 7:13 and 14. "I saw in the night visions and behold, one like the Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven. They brought Him near before the Ancient of Days," so the Son is brought before the Father.
This is the vision of the second Psalm where the Father installs Him as King. And it is said, “They brought Him near before the Ancient of Days and there was given to Him power, glory, dominion, and a kingdom that all people, nations, and languages should flow unto it and His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and of His dominion there will be no end.” That’s the prophetic vision that accompanies the second Psalm. King David saw it in the prophecies of this second Psalm before Daniel was given the vision of it, before it happened in Acts 1. He is the King, installed. He said, "Ask of Me and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance."
So today we have this idea that we can go into the world and win people for Jesus. Rubbish. God has already given Him the nations for His inheritance; you can’t give Him anything He doesn’t have. You cannot bring a single person to Him that He doesn’t already have the right to have. So what are we doing when we go into the world? We’re not going to win anyone for Him; we're going to receive His inheritance that He is drawing out of the nations and putting into your hands. There it is. If it is true that God has given Him, as the gift at the time of His investiture, as King of kings and Lord of lords; if that’s true, that God invested Him and gave Him the gift at the day of His investiture, of all the nations for His inheritance. It was spoken prophetically, it was seen in a vision, it was confirmed in the Book of Acts. If all of that is true then He could say, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me, go ye therefore." Go and do what? Go and receive My inheritance from among the nations. Hallelujah. Go and receive the ones because when you go and you obey Me among them, you will show them, you will personally show them, the truth of what I’ve already put in their hearts and they will follow you because they are looking for Me. For when I am lifted up, I will draw all men unto Myself. Does He have the right to do that? Yes!! The Father gave Him, at the inception of His throne, the Father gave Him the nations for His inheritance. He has the right to call a people from among the nations, because they are His to do that with.
Do we believe? So He says, ‘I am King, therefore go and receive My inheritance from among the nations. Whosever sins you forgive will be forgiven because in this day I am not counting men’s sins against them because now is the accepted time and today is the day of salvation and I’m making you ambassadors of this grace. The grace that I have been made King and it is My right to choose from among the nations and I will choose based upon Myself being lifted up and those who come to Me, those who are drawn to Me.’
I am in the Father and Father is in me.
Being led by the Holy Spirit - Part 3
A man was in a tree because he heard the Lord was coming along the road. A woman searched for Him, who after 14 years of pursuing a medical solution, heard the Lord was coming. And she reasoned to herself, "If I could get near enough to touch the hem of His garment I know that I will be healed.” Don’t tell me that the first time anyone is impressed with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ is when somebody shows up to tell them about Him. Why? That’s a foolish doctrine because the King was given the nations for His inheritance. So His Spirit is actively searching the hearts of men among the nations to see who has a heart for God. Who desires to be reconciled to God. And He’ll send you right at the time that He is drawing someone and if you happen to be standing there the fish will jump into the boat.
'Now in the scriptures it says that God made a promise to Abraham that God intended to fulfill in the Seed of Abraham and God said that when He fulfilled this promise in the Seed of Abraham, He would have fulfilled it to Abraham'. Remember, this is Galatians 3, "To Abraham and to his Seed." 'God made a promise to your ancestors when He brought them here. He gave them a vision and promised to support them if they would preach the good news to this continent.
No other administration could have penetrated the hearts like that. God set it up to where the face of everything that they had despised, was the very face out of which God spoke the words of redemption. It was unmistakably a gift from God. Whom the Son sets free, you see, is free because He is the King. He has all authority in heaven and on earth and you have been sent by your King, to declare the goodness of your King, especially to those who need to see the face of His goodness. And when you show up His face is seen in your eyes and in your face.
That’s why it’s not 3 points and a poem; it's why it's not a scheme or a speech. It’s why you are the actual feet and the Person of the King in His authority goes with you and whatsoever you bind on earth, in this capacity as the ambassador of the King, is recorded as being bound in heaven. And whatsoever you loose on earth is free indeed because you are the ambassador of the King. "Go,” He said, “and teach the ones I am bringing out of the nations, teach them how to obey Me moment by moment." Why? Why does He say, "Teach them to obey Me"? Because He is the King and the only reverential act with respect to the King is to obey Him. We’re not talking about a long list of biblical commands, we're talking about the Spirit of the King who lives in you who talks to your spirit and tells you what to do moment by moment and when He does, because He is King, He expects you to bow the knee. And say, "Yes my King, yes." It's not about lists of commandments to obey. It's about obeying the faithful Spirit of Truth whom He sent to bring glory and honor to Him by taking of what is His and distributing it to us.
That’s how we're supposed to live. When we do, we're not this wandering zombie crowd looking for the next prayer meeting, the next Conference. We’re purposefully about the purposes of our King. Binding and loosing, setting in order, bringing the rule of the King, and setting the captives free. This is why we're taught by those who know how to obey the King. Otherwise what could they teach us, except their religious doctrines? That is why the church today has a form of godliness but no power because it is not representative of the dictates of the King. God answers the kings who say, "Let us break the yoke of the Living God and His Anointed and God laughs, laughs derisively. And He says, “My answer is I will install My King, I have called Him My Son, I have set Him on David’s throne," not the wooden seat that David sat upon but the authority that I promised to give to Judah and to cause to come through his line. The first of these kings was his son David, the one I anointed. So in the flesh, the King of heaven comes in the lineage of those whom God has anointed. But he comes with the authority of God. "Ask of Me O’My Son and I will give to You the nations for Your inheritance. You have the right to call a kingdom out of the nations.”
And He says to us, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me, I am the King. Go ye therefore because I have authority and make disciples of all the nations. Do it this way: Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. You have been My witnesses in how I obeyed the Father in everything. Now you go, and among them you obey Me moment by moment. And those who have been looking for Me will see in your obedient faith the model of how they are to live and I'll draw them to you. And now your job is to teach them to obey Me in everything that I have commanded you."
This is the gospel of the Kingdom and in this He will send you to set the captives free. So you'll stand on the stage in any country and you will declare the word of the Lord and set a race of people free. This isn't what “I” gets to do. There are 6 billion people on the planet, how much work do you think you want to do? I’m just bringing you the testimony, not only of the theology that this is so; I am a witness of these things in our time. People today want power to validate what they've already decided they are or they want to do or be. Let us understand something; the church today hardly recognizes Jesus in His sovereign enthronement as King. The policies of the church today that I described to you, that are on display, is about where every man is king in his own eyes.
This is the very description of lawlessness and it could hardly be said to be the order of the Kingdom. That’s why men freely define the Kingdom in their experience of church; they're talking new and acting old. God has said, in this nation, the time has come where the chapter is closed on this and out of it will arise, in this new millennium, in this new season, a restoration of the ambassadorship of those who are the disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Be on the look out for my next hubpage, we will talk again about what it means, in this day, to represent the Lord in the earth. 'You are therefore Christ's ambassadors'. Let’s explore that. I had a discussion with the young people about it and I understand that it went well with them. I think that whether we as the older ones want to hear it or not, there is already a generation who has heard it. And the only question is whether they are able to join with us and us with them in this awesome move of God that is now present upon us. We’ll speak of how we represent the King in my next edition.
'Why does it all work'. The scriptures say that God rested on the seventh day and has been at rest since. It means that He established a creation with eternal principals that are designed to work without needing to be tended. One of these great principals is the principal of the resurrection and it works routinely. Every farmer lives by the principal of the resurrection. I believe God is, in this season, unveiling to us the very mysteries hidden in the depths of things so that you, in this latter time, might embrace the sovereign reality of our King and walk confidently in the authority of one who has been sent. When we speak of your ambassadorship tomorrow, I want to talk about the divine grace of apostleship. Not to exalt an office but to speak of a sent people. Go ye therefore.
Matt 13:52, Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the Kingdom of heaven, is like a head of a household, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old".
Grace, mercy and peace to you, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. God willing, and by His grace, we will labor together to see the restoration of all things. Hallelujah.
