Where Is God? Why Am I Suffering?

Updated on May 29, 2012
The Hand Of God
The Hand Of God | Source

Being ourselves, and coming up with this question, we can conclude that there is a God up there. We don't even know how this hub is going to end as usual...

If you are up there! Why did you let my kid die so young?

If you are that God almighty why are you letting us suffer?

God knows what's better and what's best. If we suffer is because we have been born with that original sin. No one can escape death and falls short of his Glory (Warning: these words just came into our mind...)

But, still we have wars and we still cannot make a decent living?

How come he is like sitting on his throne and just letting it happen?

Did you mean he is disconnected from us? He is perfection and all has a meaning. Things have to happen for a reason. We have free will to chop those enemies down in Monterrey Mexico. We have free will to run scams... and we have that free will to cover up events from History...!

We don't seem to come to him until we hit rock bottom. He is letting us know that if we stubbornly want our way, he will let us experience the consequences, even for eternity (hell?)

We don't think he is up there

We more likely are a by-product of stellar dust!

Well, who can explain the Universe and its infinite volume? What's beyond that infinite? Who can explain gravity going beyond that Newtonian Formula? How come we cry and laugh when we feel things and emotions around us? How can we come up with that Calculus and that hard math?

I still think God is an invention of man!

Sure! You are right. God is represented by that bearded old man with the look of wisdom, but God is more than that. If you don't believe in a superior being, then you just learned to philosophy out of nowhere. You certainly love your mom or that someone that cared for you. Don't you just cry sometimes for some news on TV?

Can you answer me now? Why we have to suffer then?

The human race gets closer to God by faith and strength from within. Suffering is allowed because of that. We still can see Steve Jobs last tears before passing to a better life. Somehow he understood it all at the last second of his life.

When we suffer, we tend to help others and show them that we were down that pit of hell (on earth) We say it again, there is reason for everything, and some are beyond our understanding.

If God is 14 billion years old, then just think about!

Picture our age compare to his. How can you compare yourself and your understanding to the level of the creator of all? For God we are those little 3 minutes old babies, who barely can put a simple word together. Not even a clear sight of colors (Warning: these words came from somewhere in our minds...)

Still, I'm mad at him!

He knows every move we make. He knows our thoughts, and he certainly knows that we were made to his likeness. If you feel like he is mad at the world. He is! By getting mad ourselves we are just condemning our future and whoever is around us. If he sent this 'begotten son' and let it die for us, is because he wanted to make a connection and make us understand him better. Just think of this: In order to leave a comment on this hub, you needed to sign and type a username and a password. Links... spiritual links are much deeper than that Highway to Heaven episode. And we don't think we have touched by angels in order to right this hub. If your read our profile, you will read that there is a reason for us to be here... and we don't even know. We feel used at times!!

If we feel like we are having bad luck, just think of that little boy dying of yellow fever somewhere in Africa. We have drugs, we have armament dealers and Human trafficking. Do you think we are smart enough to avoid his punishment? Do you honestly believe that this 'dead beat dad' and some (all) Politicians are going to inherit that Heaven?

So we need to get closer to him? I want to but...

Listen pal (gal), We wrote this hub from nowhere. Actually we are not Church members, and we just felt inspired by... (we think,) it was his word. And we are not trying to be preachy at all. We just came up with that title header and.... we caught up with some food for thought.

Still I don't believe in God!

Well, we wish you luck!

Thursday 03:19:02 a.m.

Where is he anyways?

Was this hub inspiring?

Who are we to question the Almighty? Things we go through make us who we are and to become better persons. God is and will be with you all the way, even when you cast Him away. God is an on time God, he does not work in our lives on our time but in His. If you have just a grain of faith, He'll guide you all the way and if you trust Him and make Him Lord of your life, the head and not the tail, He will open up the windows of heaven and bestow upon you more blessings than you can receive.

You make some very nice points here Lord, It appears you believe in God, I had no idea from the way the forums were going with all the bickering (reminds me of people in hell gnashing their teeth! LOL just kidding) I find your thought process inspiring and as I just wrote a new hub, sort of on this topic, I encourage you to read it and leave your thoughts.! Would love to hear them. Thanks :)

lord de cross, Very thought provoking! Our little finite minds are unable to conceive of the totality of GOD'S infinite wisdom & love. But I do know that in HIS time when you Love HIM you learn "that ALL things work together for the GOOD...!" Romans 8

GOD is LOVE and HE cares and is always concerned. He is limitless! One might not always understand why something happens. But you can find much Peace & Joy in HIM even in the midst of suffering... I cannot imagine life without HIM! Thank You for sharing! Peace & Blessings!

Shalah ChayilJoy, Religion is man's invention to interpret God. In Viking times God had a different name but was the same for all. In today's society God is everywhere, and men can change the stories of creation at will. Thanks for stopping by!

Joey, There are thing unraveling and happening as we go to bed. The world is so complex that only God is holding it together. Our planet's destruction by man was long overdue. But there are so many things that cannot be understood until we put the pieces together. You did write a very powerful thought. We all think different and we all come to different conclusions. Babies wash ashore because man think he is immortal and is full of evilness. There is a limit though...!

Very good hub, I find myself asking the same question but I came up with my own answer to this. People just say stuff about god that they don't even know is true, like they did in the old days. The one that gets me is god controls everything which really makes me mad and doesn't make sense. So your telling me god is helping others do this and letting babies wash ashore over seas. I don't think god controls anything because everything that happens has a reason for happening so therefore we are free willed and god doesn't interfere with anything in my opinion. If god did control everything then cause and effect wouldn't apply to everything.

Good evening Victoria, This is a hard subject becuase will eventually attract opposite opinions. What we can agree is in a force of upmost nature, that is behind our lives and our environment. We cannot deny it. It would make us renegades of the past.

@VnSatakopan, your point is strong and laudable. But evilness is around us. The sign of the times is becoming a motto nad not just a phrase.

We have to have faith and convictions. We have had a mom and we have had a lending hand in our worst moments.

@ Tammy: Yep! Even ourselves struggle with our own thoughts. We did reach a breaking point in oour middle age: There is this "creatore of all." Our thoughts and senses point to one loving father up there somewhere.

@Pamela99, you summed all it up! We have cheated death on several occasions, and we felt as though our time on earth would take a little longer than expected.

Very interesting hub. I believe in God and have had some things happen in my life where there is really no really good explanation other than God. We all have free will. I know I have a peace and joy in my life that was sure missing before. Awesome hub.

I don't think we as human beings have the capability of understanding the entire picture of God and life. We were given intellect and curiosity and it must be for a reson. I don't think it is wrong to wonder about such things. Very introspective and thought provoking hub.

Great hub. There is no end to this speculation. If we are made from stellar dust, where did the dust come from? After all, matter can neither be created nor, destroyed. If there is a god, what is he or, she made of? It feels good to feel that there is somebody above us. It is this feeling which prevents the filling up of the world with Hitlers.

Rightly said - when we do not towards GOD during all our bad deeds, how we question him in our bad times. GOD is there within us, but we should be able to realise that all times, not just in bad days.

Mary615, we've gotta believe in someone. Whether he or she is beyond our understanding, we just leave it to our theological erudits for semantical discussion.

Wesman Todd, There you go. Besides the word and the Bible, there is palpable Universe in front of us. We grow and we certainly grasp something in between the journey between faith and atheism.

Flora Breen, if everything happens for a reason, there should be an explanation to it. We haven't seen God after all, we just follow our parents teachings and the scriptures. We all approach religion differently.

@Good evening Kelley, You got a good point as a mother of three kids. Without God in your life there wouldn't be meaning in your life, starting with your love toward your own family. We are born from our parents and we cannot deny the miracle of life.

@Hi Debbie Brooks, you know how hard can Satan hit the true believers and God knows in his heart that you are doing the best you can to please him. Thanks for being here.

@Thanks to you unknown spy, or M, Your support is much appreciated.

@Randy Goodwin, we respect your points and you are who you are. We are not this 24/7 preaching type. We just have written about faith and the search of a superior being up there, beyond the stars.

@We hear you Faith. We have followed you journey through Cancer and that miracle. The changes in you came after that shock of a lifetime. We appreciate so much your kind words.

@Dave Mathews, for some reason you were born in that remote place in Canada, and experienced vivid moments with nature and this God's creation. We all feel like prodigal sons, that sooner or later come back to their father.

@Always Exploring, if the God we are mentioning is the same for all of us, then We know he is around us and within us. All of us have shed tears when we lost a loved one. Or when we witnessed our first baby grabbing our hands... and don't let go.

Thanks for leaving a supportive comment to our informal thread. Very thankful to have you with us. Glad to see that God have made a difference in your life.

We are told that God is capable to solve all of the sickness, diseases, and tragedy in life that we either witness or experience.

We are never told that God will immediately deal with these things though.

God does His work according to His timetable for things, not ours.

Lord, I am so glad you put down your thoughts here in this hub, as they are awesome indeed!!! This is a very thought-provoking hub, which is great. Sadly, it is only through the trials and tribulations we draw near to Him. Thankfully, we are able to have that intimate personal relationship with Him through His son. He tells us in His Word that we will face many trials of many kind daily, and so we should not be surprised, but that He will walk with us through those trials. We are not alone. I am glad you mentioned about attending church, as one does not need to attend church to know Him for sure, or to be saved by Him. Thanks for writing this gem. Love the video too. Voted Way Up. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Of course, this is assuming there aren't many gods in the universe and we are worshiping the right one after all. But there is nothing to show this other than those who claim they know for sure. And I certainly have no reason to take their word for it, especially when they can give no proof they know any more about it than I do.

I suppose they don't care if they are leading others astray by their own personal beliefs. Selfishness does that to people.

Very thoughtprovoking, Lord. I think we all just have to live by faith; that's all we have. If it turns out we were wrong all this time, and there is no God afterall, no Heaven, no afterlife, oh well...what have we lost? Nothing. I think we should live our lives believing there IS a God and that He cares.

Everyone approaches these questions differently. However, some people believe everything happens for a reason. Other people believe everything is random and as such-why wouldn't people suffer whether there was a God or not?

The clues are all around us. I did a healthy atheism phase....that's too easy, but trying to figure everything out will drive a good person insane. Much better to have faith :)
