Said Bill Maher regarding the Berkeley students who started a petition asking the university to rescind Maher's invitation to speak at Berkeley's commencement in December. As if at the commencement he would bring up his views on Islam.

To be fair however, I do understand why many Muslims would be upset by his and Sam Harris's views, but it's important to understand that those views are not racial as many suggest and only serve to educate people why certain things are happening in the world. For example, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau recently made a statement about the more than 200 school girls who were kidnapped "The issue of the girls is long forgotten because I have long ago married them off," he said, laughing.

As Patrick Popehat (is that a real name) said "Here’s a thought for the students at Berkeley. If you want to shut down Bill Maher’s hate speech against Muslims, why not invite him to a post-address debate, against your best and brightest? You’re well educated young men and women. You can certainly produce better informed and more eloquent speakers than Matt Damon (or Ben Affleck, I forget which) to rebut Maher’s bigotry. And if you can’t, you might learn something."

I realize this one seems to cross over the line into a politics forum however I think the freedom to criticize any religion is part of a discussion about religion and it appears Muslims don't like to be criticized.
