Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma) popularly known as a Hugging Saint in the west, a Hindu Spiritual Master (considered as Avatar by her devotees) who is also a world renowned philanthropist, is going to meet the Pope at Vatican today, based on an invitation from Pope Francis.  I think it is a historical event when two world renowned spiritual personalities from two great religions meet. They are expected to sign a joint declaration to end modern slavery.

    Any reactions? Opinions?

God's word tells us to have no respect of persons, or don't make one person more important than another.
I see nothing exciting about this, they are just people

It seems like a good thing, to promote peace, and end slavery! smile  I applaud it.

I have heard of Mata Amma and accept her as a sincere 'enlightened one'. For many many years now i have a been an ardent devotee of Mother Meera and i have knelt at the feet of Mother so many times  giving me great joy to be in her spiritual presence.

      Dear Pope Francis,
Keep up the good work. This meeting and its purpose are brilliant! East and West can truly benefit each other in today's world.

      Aum and Amen.

Quite right! Deborah. All life is precious and everything has a purpose in being here. We should all have a mutual respect for each other. I greatly admire the Queen of England because Her Majesty has reigned for my entire life span, i don't consider this hero/heroine worship but my duty She is and has demonstrated that she is human. Regarding Mother Meera who is coming to London early next year, i kneel before Mother  because it is ettiquette not worship. The Mother does fantastic charitable work for under privilegded children in India. But you never know, there maybe angels amongst us!

I can appreciate what you are saying, and angels may come to people, speak to them heal them etc, but they don't live a regular human life among us. If they did, they would reveal who they are like in scripture

If you really want to know whether somebody is an "angel" or not, you should really take interest to read their life history in detail, assess what they have done for the mankind, whether any other ordinary mortal can come up to their level either in their way of living or in the contribution for the betterment of the world etc.

In other words, an earnest attempt to "know" should replace preconceived notions and judgments.

Really?, I've read a lot of literature on angels, and studied the Jewish scriptures in depth My mother entertained (fed) an angel once.. Those living a human life are not angels. They may be children of God's light, but not actual angels
When studying and learning about God, and the heavenly hosts, there are certain truths/facts/guidelines, so we can recognize what is of God, or what isn't. That may seem preconceived to you, but in reality, it's knowing God's word
By the way, you know nothing of my earnest attempts, or my walk with God.

The New Testament code, is not my guideline in life

I am not talking about reading about angels. I am talking about reading the life of saintly people to see whether their purport of life is angel-like (not exactly  the scriptural specifications of an angel!). The idea is: whether people can get real solace, real inspirations, real spiritual evolution by following these "human angel-like" beings. By reading their life, words and message, there is quite a scope for earnest spiritual seekers to elevate themselves.

We are not to show respect of persons, regardless of how angelic you feel they are.
I've read many things on angels, about them, and about the people who are lights
I didn't feel I had to explain to you about everything I've read. I guess I was wrong.

Regardless, as I have already alluded to, holding these people on a pedestal is next to worship
I worship God, and deeply care for my family, everyone else is second
I can read about the people all day long, and they won't be angelic. There are no human-angel people
The bible says don't judge by the outward appearance (good or bad judgement)
Are you influenced that easily because you read the story of someone ? Do you believe everything you read? Anything can be written

Calling the kettle black, aren't you ? It's okay for you, but not me?
I'll say it again, it doesn't make the people angels, and it doesn't
How is what I said wrong in your eyes? Just how am I acting? Please finish..............
