Is it okay for a born again Christian to authorize the torture of people?

George W. Bush authorized the torture of human beings; he called them "detainees" and "enemy combatants"...many of whom had no ties to terrorists nor was there any evidence that they engaged in terrorist activities.  As a Christian person is it ever okay to authorize the torture of another person.

I don't believe it is ever alright for anyone of any religion to order the torture of any living being.  Torture is never the answer to any problem.

Of course, I will always regard Bush as a deplorable creature and a sub-standard human being. Maybe if he had actually shown up for work while in the National Guard he would have known a little something about interrogation. These techniques are utterly useless in gathering intel. Anyone who tells you differently has never conducted a successful interrogation.

As far as the religious aspect, it seems to me that Bush was living up to the high reputation of the Spanish Inquisition. Remember, that was not a abbhoration of Christian belief; rather, it was an expression of it. Christians have been torturing and killing non-believers ever since the Bible was written. Again, I think Bush was ignorant and incompetant, but all-in-all a good, Christian, God-fearing Texan.
