Are 'new age' human potential groups just dangerous claptrap?

Twenty years ago I was abused by a 'new age' group leader. What happened? Another participant made an unprovoked attack on me with a knife. The leader did nothing to disarm her and I had to fight for my life. I thought I was going to die. Then, unbelievably, he also attacked me. It was an extremely ugly and horrifying experience. I have never got over it, yet I have no come-back. It has left me with lasting damage.

Any cult type group has the potential to be dangerous.  Any group that has 'New Age' in its title or uses weasel phrases like ' human potential' in it's title, also has a very good chance of being claptrap.

This does not sound like a "new age" group. Was this a church type organization and did you report the attacks?
