For Christians only: Do you believe you should give 10% of your income to church?
Many churches today ask their members to "tithe" ten percent of their salary. They believe that it was a commandment from the book of Malachi and those who do not give ten percent of their income will be cursed or not be blessed. What do you think?
I believe in tithing, and do believe that God does bless you if you do so. The 10% that I offer to God is not mine. It is his and when I offer it back to Him, he promises to bless me. Many people believe that we do not tithe because that was under the Old Testament, but I believe it is even for today's Christians. There have been many testimonies to the fact that God takes care of His people who present Him back his tithe.
I believe the same thing. What's not clear to me is it 10% of your gross or net income. Some people say it is better if we give 10% of the former because this way, we are not just giving 'left overs' to God.
Sorry for the very late reply! Thank you!
a tithe was on increase only. only payable to Levites. It passed with the law. see nu 18. If you follow 1 part o the law you must follow ALL of it and be judged under it,not grace. read Galatians chapters 3-4 & 5.Keeping the law is denying Ch
Yes it is called Tith it is in the bible, you should read the book of Malachi chapter 3 verse 11 to 23 and see the benefits of giving 10% of your income to the church.
Thank you for your comment, philirodge! I apologize for the very, very late reply. I'm not sure when the "comment" feature started. I will look into it.
sorry that is what the churches of men teach but it is unscriptural. Christians do not pay a tithe. anyone other than a Levite receiveing one is stealing from God. see Numbers 18. tithe was part of law Jesus completed/finished not for Christians
it's GOD command to the Israelites, not to the gentiles (we, us!)
Thank you for your comment, bretpesis! I apologize for the very late reply. I'm not sure when the "comment" feature started. I appreciate your comment.
only if you are a jew in a synagogue. tithing was only for the jews and only a born levite could receive it. Jesus fulfilled the law, thereby completing it and replaced it /
Titheing is not for a Christian and anyone that receives one is stealing/.
under the law men owned everything and were to pay God His portion to support the Levites. Under Jesus , God owns it all (including us) ,we are stewards and are to do with it as He directs.
Very interesting! I do not know much about tithing. All I know is "everyone" (Jews or Gentiles) were commanded to tithe by Jesus. I need to read about it more. I agree with you that we are His stewards and should obey God. Thank you for your reply!
no, only jews were to pay the tithe. and it was Only on INCREASE not all. only levites could receive. there was even a tithe you had to eat yourself. and there is more read Numbers chap 18 Jesus never commanded a tithe, he talked about it to jews
Caroline, Jesus never commanded New Testament believers to tithe. Tithing is a tradition of man and no such law binds NT Christians.

With economy becoming tighter and tighter, it is harder to pay bills and keep food on the table! The Bible, tells us Christians to give a tenth (tything) of our income to support the Church. How many of you still follow this rule, especially with a shrinking wallet and other needs that...

Do you tithe as God's word encourages us to? A 10% off the top?Did you know that only 5 - 7 % of evangelical Christians follow this Biblical principle! Do you think that this could be a huge reason as to why much of the prayers of the believers are NOT being answered, and many are sick, diseased,...

Why does it seem most Christians are immature. It seems most people professing to be Christian do not have a proper grounding in the scriptures. They drink the milk but do not seem to be able ( or maybe no desire?) to eat the real meat- understand the deeper things of God, in spite of the fact...

People, please stop using the question section to post. I hate leaving comments on questions because people take advantage of the one response rule to take a shot at the previous comments. This forum is inspired by a recent comment I left on a question, "How do Christians know the Bible is the...

Does God make exceptions to tithing?Consider this true scenario. A faithful tither finds that an error has been made in salary. The employer removes $1000.Inquiries are made; there are promises to correct the error. The individual returns a tithe and offering anyhow. The following month, the same...
