I have only the slightest inkling of what a shamanic hermetic witch is. As in, I have a vague idea that the universe is more than huge and there's more in it than I can imagine.

Could you elaborate a teeny weeny bit on what a shamanic hermetic witch is? I googled it and it sounds mostly like just good ol' witchcraft, incantations and spells. Is there more to it than that?

A shamanic hermetic witch is SHAMANISM, HERMETIC (CEREMONIAL MAGICK, AND PAGANISM MIXED ALL TOGETHER. I will write a hub on it to better explain.

I'm new to the Wicca beliefs. Actually led there through research for a fictional book I am writing. It opened up a fountain for me of information that I am still trying to process.

I read your article on creating a name and am interested in how that relates to the tarot you spoke of in it.

Tantrum in ref to the convo the other night -- how do you sustain yourself if you don't bite?

Well at night i bite a lot as I'm avampire lol during daytime I'm a saint big_smile

    2. Daniel Carter profile image74
Daniel Carterposted 8 years agoin reply to this

The book of Revelations talks about believers receiving a new name as well. It's in a lot of religious culture. Symbolism of freeing one's self from the old former, fettered self to the "new creature." Powerful imagery and very often effective.

Mmmm.. well here is another question, you went to bed early the other night so you are also a daywalker?

Daniel do you know where that is in Revelations? I would love to look it up.

    1. Daniel Carter profile image74
Daniel Carterposted 8 years agoin reply to this

The reference is Rev. 2:17. Some religions actually use this as a sacred rite of passage in giving the subject a new name, thus an heir to the Kingdom of God.

    lynnechandlerposted 8 years ago

Thanks Daniel I had actually found it while I couldn't access the site. Definitely interesting that they would be given a new name written on a white stone much like the victors of the gladiator games were given stones and thus retired from the games.

I think whether we want to quote scripture or read the ancient textual references to pagan acts much is still intertwined together no matter how you look at it.
