Submit Yourself
As a believer are you able to submit yourself completely to the Lord? Are you humble enough to put away your pride and allow the Lord to work in your life just as He said He would?
I try. Pride and ego are stubborn opponents of Christ each and everyday of my life. God has certainly broken me to a small degree. But, very small in relation to the amount of the self-life that still exists in me. I pray that I will learn from the experiences thus far and humble myself under His mighty hand as opposed to making Him humble me. But, this is the greatest struggle in my Christian life. I am certainly not happy that this is the commentary of my life, but it is the truth.
GrowingDeeper, thank you for your honesty. Perhaps someday your struggle will be someone elses testimony. To see a person of strong faith struggle with worldly emotions, stumble over foolish pride, fall because of temptation..only to be lifted up even higher because of their faith. To see that gives me the faith that the Lord is alive, and He is working.
Submitting, where I recently came from, is a BIG No-No. Its taken as a sign of weakness. Being in the Texas Prison System you learn to believe in yourself, you are the only one who is going to be there for yourself...so trying to come to the Lord was a major struggle. I wont bore you with prison life, but I realized why I couldnt come to peace with so many things. The verse that saved my soul and brought me into the light was James 4:7- Submit yourself to the Lord, resist the devil and he will flee from you.
For me, I had to give in, I had to submit. I had to hit my knees and cry out "Lord, Heavenly Father, I cant do this on my own. I need you as my Lord and Savior. I submit myself to you Lord, and I pray you use me as a willing vessel to do your will."
And I havent looked back. The Lord has blessed me in ways I never thought possible.

I was recently studying Mark 12:28-31 which calls us to Love God with our whole being, AND ALSO to love our fellow man "as ourself". How can someone who does NOT love themselves (low self esteem) treat others well? SIMILAR ISSUE: Can we be both humble and also have enough love for...

Humble yourselves. Sexual relations of the unmarried, the unnatural, following false doctrine, pride, and vanity are some causes of trouble in a mans life. Many have stated these same things and were delivered in due time by the Lord, after they hearkened unto the words of the Lord. Many times we...
