Christians, do you believe the Bible refers to church as a place or a people?
Or do you believe there are 2 churches - The building and The Bride of Christ
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
i believe it is made up of the body of believers. HE also said where 2 or more are gathered in MY Name, there am I. so "church" is anywhere there are believers who worship GOD in the spirit and in truth.
Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you. (Romans 16:16 ESV)
I don't know if the word "church" is used in the Bible to refer to a building. But it is today and there's nothing wrong with that. In the Bible it's mostly used as a synonym for "congregation." It can also be used to refer to the universal church. But it's mostly used in the Bible and today to mean a local congregation.
When the bible uses the word "Church" it is referring to people not a building. The Christians, themselves, are "the Church" whether they meet in a building or a open field. The place of the meeting is not relevant for believers. It is nice to have a "meeting place" where you fellowship one with another and receive the Word but we must never elevate the "meeting place" above the body.
Biblically, the true church is the body of believers In Christ (the Bride of Christ). I do gather with believers in a church building every Sunday to praise the Lord and hear His Word preached.
It is the people who are the "Church" The building many call a church is but a gathering place like the synagogues Jesus would attend, The altar of the church is the altar of God.
I believe it refers to people. You can gather with fellow Jesus lovers anywhere and be a church. It is the body of people that create "church" not the four walls of a building.

Does one have to go to church to be close to God?I mean Jesus taught out in the open, not in a church. Do you really have to go to church in order to be close to God, or can we worship him outside?

It is quite obvious that Catholics do not follow many things in the Bible. They look at the Church as the one that sets all standards. Why is it so?

Why do so many people who call themselves Christians don't read their bibles? You know Jesus when things are going good than why don't you know Him when things are going bad. Imagine if you went three days without water what will happen to your physical body? Now ask yourself the same question what...

God said the of today church is lukewarm and not hot or cold, and that this church is the worst in the history of the church. What is it about this church age would up-set God's stomach so bad?

My personal opinion is that, YES, most Christians believe in God out of fear. And that starts when they are children. When a child is taken to church and told that he/she will burn eternally in the fiery pits of hell unless they follow the rules of the Bible and God's word, that...
