What is Religion, to you?
Is it a Church, a Preacher, or another "religious" person who you listen to for answers to life's biggest issues?
As a bible student to me religion it is your way of life, and it could be a person place or thing for some it is their security of money , that people worship and find very important enough to die for if that is the case. But the beauty of religion is when it is done in the right way of Truth ,then you know God Almighty is accepting it on his end. In our stream of time where there are many who desire to worship ,yet not according to the way he shows us from his word ,this has caused divisions based on personal preference rather then what is pleasing God by his word, many have adjusted the scriptures to there life style ,not facing the truth that God's laws disagrees with certain habits and life styles. No matter how much we change it ,we can not change him and the past examples given to us as a warning, there is a right way and wrong way to do anything in life. Our religion could mean our life if we ignore Almighty God's warnings of what is bad.. So far on earth in over more than 2000 years man has been doing things his way and the earth is at its point of nuclear destruction ,global warming ,food shortages and crime of good and bad people, and not to mis the animals that have become distinct and abused. And what about diseases that are not cured ,caused by many things here on earth that is not natural ,This is not the purpose that God have for humans here, So he allowed man to run his course of doing things and running many types of governments his way , All have failed ,and the answer has been proven , So soon the real life will be here and there will be no confusion The truth will stand forever. And many will welcome the new heavens and new earth under his Goverment.
To Borsia I do agree with your commit that man is behind the badness in religion, but he does have a helper ,the same one called Satan ,the man slayer, he is misleading many up to the day of the final war ,Revelation 16:4.
Some people are just evil there is no deity behind them no god no Satan they are just bad. Many of they wear robes. Its nice to think something else is to blame but it is just bad people.
It is the single worst atrocity humanity ever inflicted upon itself...a kind of delusional insanity.
Something that makes many happy and many very sad. Something that brings comfort to some while making others miserable. For life's big issues I discuss them with the people in my life that mean the most, my husband and sometimes my children. I'm not sure a pastor could give me better insight than those who know me best.
Sorry but I see religion as the worst evil that man has invented to date.
The opiate of the masses, only more like the crack or meth since opium tends to make people docile.
I have no real position on the belief in gods, though I have none. But religion is another subject and we / mankind would be far better off without any.
A set of defined rules from the creator of the universe about how to spend life in this world and be prepared for the hereafter. We will be answerable on the judgement day, for anything we do here, good or bad, .
To me, religion is a guide to spirituality and the various gods are exalted souls from the soul world who want to guide humanity to that end.
In Malaysia, Islam is the official religion. But what is an official religion? It's a political tool to oppress the general populace and to mold certain segments so that the powers-to-be can continue to rule the country, so that they can enrich themselves and their family. In short, official religion is a sham... a political tool. It is manipulating religion and God to serve one's selfish purpose.
To me, religion isn't about the building or the pastor, it's about a relationship with my Lord.
To me - religion is something helps others feel whole, secure, supported and fulfils them.
For me - its both interesting history and culture that I like to learn about but don't follow, and the cause of discrimination and hatred towards me and mine.
So for some it's great, fulfilling and a source of comfort. For me - its a source of interesting parables, and surprising duality in the nature of some followers of religion.
Religion is imperfect. Sure there are some truths in religion.
God lives within each of us, however, his gentle voice is usually drowned out and on many occasions contradicted by religions.
You need not have religion for salvation or being enlightened by God.
He seeks a direct one to one relationship with You. Dare to approach Him without Fear. He will not harm you. If you too seek such a relationship you will experience the Joy, Love and Truth that only he can give.
This is the path of Masters such as Moses, Jesus and the Buddha. You are also invited. Will you accept it?
.
Many religions as it is practiced today is a hoax created by human kind to exploit one another, animals and natures resources in the name of "GOD".
Religion should have been a method of teaching humans what the purpose of life is supposed to be, and that is building a loving relationship with GOD the creator as well as all other living entities.
The idea that we are all part of the Supreme being is critical to all religions because this idea is what connects us all and it reduces the exploitative mentality that is dominating the world during that time period.
Religion is the path that is supposed to connect us back to the divine and make us perfect in our spiritual practice.
Best wishes
Someone once told me...
Religion is man's way of finding God. Christianity is God finding man.
My personal opinion:
I believe that we need an organized group dedicated to our Spirituality. We must stay focused on what is real. Before we were created, there was God. After we leave, there will be God. God loves unconditionally for eternity. That will never change. Why not appreciate the Bible as a gift from your Creator? I think it was nice of Him to explain who we are and where we came from.
I strongly believe that religion can really hurt someone is it is taken out of context. You always have to take everything with a grain of salt when learning because you cannot solely rely on man to teach you everything. That is where God steps in and says Here I AM. Come to Me. I will tell you truth. I'm not sure why some people make it more complicated than it is.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to the Earth and died on the cross to save us from our sins. We are all sinners. Its a good thing to know we can be washed with the Blood of Jesus Christ and start over again. We are not perfect. We are going to make mistakes. God is perfect. He tells He will forgive us if we ask Him to. He is very strict about us learning lessons and He doesn't expect us to go back to our old ways. But yes, there is another option besides death.
To me, that is what religion is for me. It is truth about who we are and that we have other people who share the same belief system: We were created to be good. We will make mistakes. We are learning. We are not alone. We must help each other. God loves us very much.
Religion does not mean anything to me although I have been raised Catholic. My relationship to God is between HIM and me and I take that very seriously.I do not need religion to affirm my spirituality.
Religion to me is a cultural evolution that serves our many purposes like social customs, moral values and also acts as a guide in life to us. Every religion teaches us something good like human values, kindness and the existence of a super power. The only thing remains to see that how we define our religion more purposeful to all human beings.
I am non religious, but I believe in God. You don't have to follow religion to know God, they just separate us from each other and limit us from knowing God. I value my freedom, and following a religion takes it away from me.
I just take what I like from a religion, only the good parts, like from Buddhism their meditation and good values, and leave out what I don't want. That way I learn more and get more enlightened every day.
II carry this very quotation in my wallet. This sums up region to me.
Religion to me is never-ending belief in the power of almighty.
I don't believe religion is an evil, but addiction to religion is an evil. and I am a Christian, but doesn't mean I believe Christianity is the only good relegion. Everybody teaches the same..
To me, religion is a personal choice. I set of life's rules that one chooses to live by. The method by which you learn these rules would greatly depend on the religion chosen. In Catholicism it is a priest, in the Jewish faith it would be a Rabbi. Some people are self taught. The place in which you practice your religion is not the religion, as in the question posted, "is it a Church?" You do not need a building to have religion, Wicca and other Pagan religions use Nature as their house of worship.
So, my answer to this question is that religion is the personal beliefs that someone uses as guidance to the higher power they believe in and the standard of rules of life that they choose to follow. The place and method of practice do not define a religion.

What is the difference between a religious person and spiritual person?Where that question leads to is can a spiritual person be a Christian? In other words, does a Christian have to be religious?

Do you consider yourself spiritual or religious, and what do you see as the difference?

Would the world be a better place without religion?A lot of persons always speak bad of religion and how it's just a flurry of confusion to turn races and nations against each other and how churches don't really help out at all.But suppose many people wishes came through and all of a sudden there...

You guys - I posted this in the Questions section, but because it turned into a full-blown discussion, HubPagers advised me to move it to Forums. Here it is:"Cult" is defined as a system of beliefs that doesn't work, but people cling to it because they fear "eternal hell"...

If there is only one God, why are there so many religions?

What do you think about Religion?Does Religion help us improve our everyday life, or is it just a matter of belief to a higher being?
