If the Lord doesn't give us more than we can bear, is that to say that the Devil does?
I am not being facetious and prefer not to have any mean answers or an answer from someone who doesn't believe in such things to begin with. Thanks.
Hello Keisha. That phrase is completely non-Biblical. There is no where in the Bible that says that God will not give you more than you can bear. This is just a saying that has been passed down from generation to generation. I call it "Inherited religion."
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." I Corinthians 10:13
Yes, I am aware of that scripture. He says he will give you a way to escape what he has given you to bear. WHEN you are tempted. This is inevitable. Also we must pay attention to "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to MANKIND."
Keisha, Temptation comes from the enemy, I quote from God's word as His word is truth - we can debate all day but where is the authority? It is God's word: "When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;" James 1:13 So when the enemy temps us - God says He will NOT allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. Bottom line -the Devil is limited and God won't allow him to tempt us above what we are able.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. COMMON to man?
I really appreciate you both taking the time out to respond, but I wouldn't call it temptation, just burden/troubles, whether it be illness, family issues or job-related, I don't think temptation fits the bill. Your thoughts?
Hi Keisha, love your kind response! The enemy's strategy is to render us helpless with burdens. "Be alert & of sober mind. your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" It is only Thru Christ we can overc
I am positive the devil does give us more than we can bare. Look how much problems we have, murder, world chaos, pollution, greed, government, you name it and the devil gives it.

How Many Times Was Jesus Tempted By The Devil In The Wilderness?
by Randy Godwin 9 years ago
We are always hearing about Satan tempting people to do bad things against god's wishes, but according to biblical scholars, he was once god's favorite. So, the question is: Who, or what tempted Satan to go bad? There had to be evil present for him to fall from god's graces. No...

Why do most who profess to be Christian give to satan more power and authority than scripture does? 1 John 3:8 it is said, "To this end was the Son of God manifested, that he might destroy the works of the Devil." **Jesus defeated him. He only has power to tempt, he cannot...
