   Do we ever lose God's gift?
   
   Recently I was watching a show on television in which one of the character stated that his father was a homosexual preacher. Immediately, my curiosity was peaked. If God blesses people with the gift of preaching/ teaching His Word, can that gift be lost because of our sin? I think about Peter, one of Jesus' disciples, who appeared to have an issue with his temper; David had an issue with adultery; or  Moses the murder, we're all used by God to accomplish his purpose. I believe that once God gives you a gift, it is always there regardless of your relationship with our Savior. What do you think?

   What an interesting question. It strikes me that we do not lose them even if we do not use them. I personally always have wondered if maybe the biggest unmentioned sin is the sin of not using the gifts we were given. It is one of the hardest things about being a parent. You want to nurture any gifts a child has but discerning which those are is not easy always. You have got to give the freedom yet still be supportive. I laugh when I think how many lawyers should have been preachers and the other way around.

      We are "sealed" (II Cor 1:22) IF "in Christ" but 1 MUST be "IN CHRIST" filled w/the HS! The ONLY WAY 1 can be "IN CHRIST!"

      The word law is a bad translation to English. Teachings would be closer to "torah" and no the teachings of God never go away. You shall not murder, hate, steal etc. the covenant with Christ doesn't nullify God's teachings. He lived God's teachings.

      I don't think the spiritual gifts are something we learn in school or from our parents. When I all of a sudden can do something I never did before or trained for, that is a spiritual gift from God. It will be verified by other like minded.

   First of all, if one’s actions (homosexuality) are “against the Word of God” (Romans 1:21-32), how can you say “God has blessed him with a “gift?”  Have you ever heard the phrase “Some are called and some are sent, but some just got up and went?”  How then, can one have ever been “IN CHRIST” when GOD said in Romans 1:24 “Wherefore God also GAVE THEM UP to uncleanness through the “lusts of their own hearts” (Matthew 23:27), to dishonor their own bodies between themselves?”   
   GOD chose Peter (as one of his disciples); therefore, “IN CHRIST!” Yes, he had “a temper issue,” but he walked the earth with “Grace and Mercy”  (JESUS)!  He also denied Jesus three times (John 18:13-27) but repented three times (John 20:15-17)! 
   What I love about GOD, HE does not see man as man sees man, but rather “looks at the heart” (I Samuel 16:7)!  David was a man after GOD’S own heart (Acts 13:22)!  GOD saw this and therefore, David was “IN CHRIST!”  Although David committed adultery (II Samuel 11), had Uriah murdered (II Samuel 11-12), and made bad decisions in raising his children (II Samuel 11-24), GOD continued to “look at his heart” and David “Repented” (II Samuel 12:1-13)!  When one is “IN CHRIST,” because of HIS “Grace and Mercy,” our sins are forgiven (Jeremiah 31:34; “…for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”)!
   Moses was called by GOD from birth really (Jeremiah 29:11)!  What other child escaped the murder of all boy children down the Nile (alligators, etc; Exodus 2:3), protected by Pharaoh’s daughter (Exodus 2:5), returned to mother who was “paid” to nurse her own son (Exodus 2:9)! Who does this but GOD?  Although Moses murdered, it was all in GOD’S Plan (Exodus 2:11-15)!  Moses was “IN CHRIST” from the beginning yet called (Exodus 3:4) by GOD and “went” (Exodus 4:18) “obeyed” or “repented!” 
   Not all are “IN CHRIST” for there are MANY “false prophets” who shall rise and deceive many” (Matthew 24:11)!  However, if one is “IN CHRIST” (and if filled with the “gift” of the Holy Spirit, one will be able to discern; John 14:26; 16:13), your belief “that once God gives you a gift, it is always there regardless of your relationship with our Savior” is correct, “IF” we “don’t sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, (for) there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26)!

   I don’t think we lose in the sense that God takes it back. Most examples I know of in scripture are covenant agreement between God and man. God says that if you do a particular thing then He will do a particular thing. As much as man wants there to be gifts from God without strings attached, when you look into the scripture you find that to not be true at all. I’m sure you could pick something like Love and say that God gives love unconditionally. That would be a hard thing to argue either way because we are not God but as humans we would desire that to be true. There are countless examples where God says if you love me (to the human) then you will do what I say. Does that mean if you don’t do what God says that He doesn’t love you? You see this is where lots like to spend their time in discussions that end up being a circular discussion. The teaching of God from the beginning has been that if you repent He will forgive you. The first covenant to the last things have always been a more or less if you then I. 
   The New Testament speaks of many gifts. I know many people that “claim” to have a gift and in fact what they have is a vocation that they make money at. None of the gifts given by God via the Holy Spirit, In Jesus name come with a title and salary to live on. All gifts are meant to be a function in the body of Christ to build it up. We are not talking about numbers here. The believer is called a living stone and those living stones are what Christ is using to build with. Gifts are given to living stones. Stop being a living stone and you will not have any of the gifts. I don’t believe God needs to take anything away all we have to do is move away from God and begin living in the imagination of our own minds. All gifts of God are given to His servants. If you are not a servant then I doubt you have a “claimed” gift. If you are paid to do something in the Kingdom of God I doubt the validity of your work in God’s name. There is nothing out of the mouth of Jesus that speaks well of a Hireling.
   If you personally claim to be or have something I doubt the validity of the blow your own horn syndrome. When you have and are doing because of a gift from God you will not have a title, position, salary, or any of the things man likes to attach to things. The gifted servant of God will be known by what they are doing not their business card, or salary being drawn. All rambling aside yes you can lose what God has freely given you, all you have to do is walk away.

       I don't think we take the gift with us, the gift is Him. I don't know why you would want to leave after learning of Christ doesn't sound right to me, but Israel walked away from God many times over history.

   If we really understand the bible and not follow it blindly and passively, we realized, Christ is not god, but the anti christ is the real god and the world would be better off without christ. For example, read these 2 bible passage.
   
   Deuteronomy 22:20-22
   But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father's house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. “If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.
   
   Deuteronomy 13:6-10
   “If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or your daughter or the wife you embrace or your friend who is as your own soul entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which neither you nor your fathers have known, some of the gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him. But you shall kill him. Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
   
   Take a look at what the bible say about the antichrist, the following is one of the many passages.
   1 John 4:1-3
   Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
   
   So, who is not from Christ? Age of Enlightenment, is not from Christin fact it frequently contradict Christ, e.g. science is in coalition with age of enlightment, but science frequently contradict christ, thus anti christ. Thus antichrist isn't evil, its the good guy Christ gave us dark ages, anti christ gave us age of enlightment and industrial revolution.
