If you believe in reincarnation as I do, you might believe in what many people call "soul-mates". I'm not sure I believe in soul-mates the way that these people do, though. I don't think soul-mates are people that we should be spending every one of our lives with...if we did, then we might never learn from someone new or experience a different type of relationship. What do you think? Have you met your literal "soul-mate" and are you still with him/her? Or do you believe in soul-mates at all?
What you describe is what I would call twin flames. And, no. I don't believe in that. I do believe there are souls we interact with, again and again; throughout our many lives. I think you can feel it when you meet. It's an immediate connection. A comfortable intimacy that would be otherwise unwarranted.
I believe that you can have a soul mate, or "twin flame" as Emile put it. I too believe in reincarnation, so the prospect of continuously meeting the same souls over and over again is highly likely, in my opinion. I do however agree with you Kitty, in that we don't always end up or have to end up with our soul mates in each and every life. What would we learn or gain if we were essentially with the same person each and every time?
Personally, I feel as if I've found my soul mate in this life time. As soon as I met him, he and I had an instant connection. He's described to me as having the same feeling as well. I'm just truly happy when I'm with him and I feel like myself. I wouldn't say that I feel comfortable with him, because that almost sounds like laziness, but I will say that for the first time I actually feel like me. To me, that is the definition of a soul mate.
Blessed be and sorry for the lengthy response!
Don't apologize, Daniella. That was beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I feel like I've met my soul mate in this life but we are not together any longer. But again, I don't think that that's a bad thing...I think it's actually better because I'm with my husband now of whom I can learn much from in this life.
I think that since, with reincarnation, it can be said that our souls have gone on for a long time, in various times and places; that a soul-mate is real. I also think that we may not be able to be with our soul-mate in every lifetime as a 'lover'. I tend to believe that we are returning again and again to gain knowledge, information, and learn new lessons, to overcome obstacles for various personal reasons. It might be that we meet our soul-mate, but they are to only be a friend, a confidante, or someone whom we never meet, yet still emits the energy and love that only two souls connected can share across any distance. That was a nice question that has me thinking about it, thank you!
My boyfriend believes in the concept of a soul-mate. And the concept of reliving one's life over and over and over again.
I have wondered about this and am not sure what to feel. Do we really just keep reliving our lives over and over again? How would you even know if that person is your soul mate?
He claims I am his. I don't know how to feel about it.
I might write a hub on this since I have a very strong opinion of soul-mates. I believe soul-mates do exist and there is such a thing as twin souls, or twin flames as one person said. Twin souls are similar to twin siblings. My husband and I are twin souls who luckily happened to find each other in this life. From several past life regressions we have found that we have searched for each other in every lifetime, and successfully found each other although we have not been lovers every time. The afterlife is something that is very difficult for our human brains to comprehend. So the relationship between souls is difficult to understand let alone explain. Soul mates, I believe, are those souls who long to be together for whatever reason, and feel they are not complete without each other. This isn't necessarily a romantic relationship, on the other side it is much deeper than that. Each lifetime the soul mates may choose a different way of expressing their relationship if they are able to find one another based on what lessons they must learn in that incarnation. Not every set of soul mates finds each other in every life however, my husband and I are a part of the very few lucky ones who have a strong enough bond to do so. If you believe in never ending love, you should believe in soul mates simply because soul mates are the embodiment of true love. There is a wonderful book on this subject called (oddly enough) Soul Mates by Richard Webster.
I believe in Reincarnation although not too much on Soul Mates. If we came back with the same people we would never experience anything new. In my belief, we keep coming back to learn the lessons the universe has to offer. That would mean that when we come back, we must have something new to experience and learn!
Biblically, a soul means a flesh body. You have embraced a platonic contrivance. Adam was a living soul (nephesh) and eve his mate. Soul mate i have no problem with when soul is defined properly. As to many lives, yes i see how you might notice that there is this problem of many lives with a soul mate. Jesus says spiritual bodies after life are neither male nor female, so if you want to add a little bible basic to your reincarnation belief you may alleviate your current conundrum but then you would have a blended belief and that is not quite right is it.
A wise man is certain he knows nothing. With that being said.... my thoughts on this are that we are all put on this Earth to fulfill a destiny...might take more than one lifetime to do this. I believe soul mates are people we shared a past life with. For that reason we feel an instant connection and feel as if we have known them forever after only hours of meeting them for the first time. Maybe the bond grows stronger every life you spend together. So strong that one day you will meet a person and fall in love the second you come in contact with them (love at first sight).
I believe in reincarnation as well but "soul mates" are a tricky subject. I don't think they actually exist though I know many people who believe they do and spend an almost exhaustive amount of time trying to find the guy/girl. It would make no sense in any belief system that a soul is bound to essentially make the same choices over and over. Instead, I think that soul recognize each other and respond depending on past experiences. This could account for deja vu as well.
I believe in reincarnation, but I don't believe in soul mates as in people who are meant to be together.
Something about the idea that our lives were designed just to set us up to have to look for each other so we can be together doesn't make any kind of logical sense to me in nature, or with Gods as I understand them. I believe in true free will, I don't believe in destiny. I believe we have a say in our lives and that the reigns are in our own hands.
I believe there are many possible people in our lifetimes we meet who could be a compatible mate. To be honest, I think when people believe they found their soul mate, they did not find someone they were meant to be with. They found someone, had a strong chemistry & compatibility, and chose to be with the person. Their feelings were so strong they assumed it was out of their hands, but it never really was.

Do You Believe That Every One of Us Has His Soul Mate ?

I feel that with the internet it is much easier to find that special someone. There is a chemistry that two soul mates know deep within...when they first look at each other! But today I feel there is too much co dependency in our society and we have to heal our spirits...so we can focus on finding...
