Chaos theory is a field of study in mathematics, with applications in several disciplines including physics, engineering, economics, biology, and philosophy. Chaos theory studies the behavior of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions, an effect which is popularly referred to as the butterfly effect. Small differences in initial conditions (such as those due to rounding errors in numerical computation) yield widely diverging outcomes for chaotic systems, rendering long-term prediction impossible in general. This happens even though these systems are deterministic, meaning that their future behavior is fully determined by their initial conditions, with no random elements involved. In other words, the deterministic nature of these systems does not make them predictable. This behavior is known as deterministic chaos, or simply chaos.
Chaotic behavior can be observed in many natural systems, such as the weather. Explanation of such behavior may be sought through analysis of a chaotic mathematical model, or through analytical techniques such as recurrence plots and Poincaré maps.
Now in Layman's (My) Terms:
Why do you place your beleifs in Theory alone? Do you know what a theory is? A Scientific Theory??
A scientific theory is something that has been proposed due to surmounting evidence. A theory is not something that has been proven to be true.
Chaos theory is the theory that many theories can never be proven fact, because the "big picture" has not yet come into clear view.
What do you think about chaos theory? Do you place your faith in it?
Im interested to know how many gnostic atheists there are. Im not one.
What the hell are you talking about? How on earth is what I said trolling?
In the last few years of me debating religion I have met very little gnostic atheists. Myself and most of the other atheists I have spoken to are agnostic atheists.
I personally think that gnostic atheism holds as much credence as theism.
As for becoming a better atheist, atheism is simply the lack of belief in a god there is no good or bad atheism.
this is a thread where i will be helped by a troubled man. show some respect.
Respect for what? What the hell are you talking about? Where have I disrespected anyone on this thread?
You insulted my intelligence by coming here and assuming that you were going to have fun. life is not a game.
Sorry, but your laymans terms don't appear to have anything to do with the explanation above.
Please show me how I am wrong, and how I can become a better athiest.
That's odd, I never said you were wrong, I simply stated your laymens terms have nothing to do with the explanation of chaos theory YOU provided.
What does atheism have to do with this?
I also never said I was wrong.
I simply asked you a question.
Here let me try again.
How can I become a better athiest?
How about first learning how to spell atheist?
Hmmm.. what about
'i' before 'e', except after 'c'
There is no 'c' in athiest...
An English remedial course may be best for you to start with so you may learn that pronouncing the "ei" in atheist is entirely different than pronouncing the "ei" in words like deceive, for example. Hence, that rule does not apply.
Ok then, how about we leave out encyclopedias and book smarts from this discussion. Are you able to hold a casual conversation in public? Because we are doing this right now. We are having a casual conversation about agnostic athiesm right now here on the interweb, world wide.
Do you know what agnostic athiesm is?
There's no such thing as better atheist. You choose to leech onto more rational approach, this is where you choose atheism. If fantasy pleases you more than rational life, theism will make your life more better.
I beleive it is every humans goal in life to obtain happiness. Whether or not they are concious of it. The choices and actions they take are a description of what makes them happy.
You appear to seek happiness by putting down the beleif systems of athiests.
Are you trying to display to the world that puting down the beleifs of others is how you seek happiness?
Yes. Why not? There are countless punishments written for atheists in every random religion out there. Does it hurt when people who belong in hell strike back?
You are admitting to acheiving happiness thru the misfortune of others...?
Yeah. I'm Bortheryochanan's atheist version.
I recently wrote a peice of psychedelic gangster poetry. I had to unpublish it because it was offending to many people. I am trying to work on it to make it less offensive before i republish it.
Also, you should consider the idea that the art of sockpuppertry makes you appear as evil in the minds of mortals.
I have a video I can show you if you want to know why.
Publish that poetry on blogspot and link it from your HP profile, If you think HP is not the right place to host it.
Ok so there are no athiests here willing to make the claim that they can convert me to athiesm?
You god is weak my friends...
I told you that most atheists were not gnostic. It would appear that you were the one baiting and trolling all along.
Funny how I already knew that.......
You are right, I should have titled my thread in a less derogatory way... I apologize for offending any athiests here. This was not my intention. I am just dumb.
Hmm it was indeed rather presumptous of me to claim that I am the best sockpuppet in existence when I am not even a sock puppet.
Has anyone ever compiled a list of users who are actually real people?
If so, please add me to the list.
do not find fear in the wrath of misguided gods, those of you who are agnostic.
the god of truth will deliver only that which you seek to find.
read more about this idea in my article... an eternally expanding circle as an analogy for existence.

Contrary to what some folks think I am not an Atheist.I'm a Christian Gnostic.Just wondering if there are any others on HP?
by Fairbear 12 years ago
This is just my opinion based on the research I've done. During the first four centuries gnostic Christianity posed a serious threat to the orthodoox sect. But due in part to the strong institutional orientation of the orthodox, and the elitism of the gnostics, gnosticism was virtually subverted to...

For those who are believers...Are you a theist or gnostic? Do you believe in God (Theist) or do you know there is a God (Gnostic)For those who don't believe...Same question but with the "A"...Just curious of responses...As many claim to know the "truth", I am curious how it can...
