When did we forget that we are natural creatures?

    How did we decide that we were not part of the natural universe? Is it the whole pedestal thing or are we just that smug?

    Humans live in an artificial environment.  Our daily lives are spent not as nature intended, but by using the things man has created.  When we are living in big cities, and buy our food from the supermarket, rather than hunting and gathering, and rely on technology, we find ourselves so far removed from the animal kingdom and it is easy to forget we are ourselves animals.

    Animals adapt to the world around them. We manipulate the world to serve our needs. We will teach ourselves how to do that with the universe, at large, at some point. If the species survives long enough.

    The unique nature of our minds has naturally pulled us away and made us feel a separation. Because what is natural about the minds of mankind? At this moment we have no proof that we are any more than an anomoly. Freaks of nature, so to speak.
