This is from communist party in India

Display of a painting of Jesus Christ along with icons of Communism like Karl Marx, Lenin and Che Guevara at a CPI-M organised exhibition in Thiruvananthapuram has sparked off a debate, with sections of the Catholic church seeing it as an attempt to win over the support of the believers.

The show that opened earlier this week, titled 'Marx is correct', has a wide range of pictures, paintings, clippings and copies of historical documents throwing light into the history of struggles for social and political emancipation through the centuries.

In it the picture of a crucified Christ has a snapshot below it, which, after briefly tracing his life and death, describes him 'as a social reformer who emancipated Jews from slavery'.

      No, Jesus is a myth.
The only known Jesus who might have been crucified is Jesus ben Stada(He might as well have been executed by other means)

I wonder why no Christians jumped in and said Jesus is not a myth.

If Jesus the Christ ever lived, he was against (according to bible) established religion, he was against the rich and powerful and he was always with the poor, so the communists can say he was a communist(might be even the first one). The church has no reason to object.

On the other hand, if he really is a myth, the communists has nothing to do with Jesus, and Church is right in objecting, as he is an exclusive property of the church, their bread and butter.

What the hell is wrong with people and where do they come up with this? Honestly, God does not care about politics or how you come up with a way to be a believer. All he cares about is who you our and what you do. In the next World this nonsense is not going to matter.

That's probably one of the most intelligent things you've ever written. smile

Intelligence may not be your strong suit. Jesus ESTABLISHED a single religion. When Jesus returns he promises to destroy those whom don't except his religion. He told the wealthy that they
SHOULD help the poor. NOT must, just should. He did not take money by force from the rich. ( Taxes do this) AND since he said the poor would always be amoung us--he didn't think everyone gets the same size slice of the pie. Communists will claim anything to justify their moronic beliefs.

Communism looks great on paper though, you have to read the communist manifesto to fully understand communism. I'm in no way advocating communism, but I don't see their views as being any less asinine than christianity. To me it's all the same thing, a system of control.

@gusser jesus established single religion?...he was long gone before christianity even came to being my friend...what he left was very few followers and credit of forming the religion must go to them...they marketed jesus ...

You are absolutely correct. Jesus never advocated using force in order to help the poor. When taking money from one group and giving it to another group it is called stealing, or to say in a more politically correct way, it is called Communism.
And the Bible clearly says, "thou shalt not steal", hence Christianity is fundamentally opposed to the tenants of communism, or socialism, or what ever kind of candy coating you want to sprinkle on it in order for it not to sound like what it is.

Somebody is having a wee bad night? A simple read of the  account of the early Christians shows that they lived in communes. Sharing all they had with each other. Communism isn't a dirty word, no matter how horribly the 20th century abused the word. smile

The systems all exist no matter what your government claims to be. At the Federal level its a dictatorship, In both houses its a Republic bought and paid for by the rich, at the local level its a Democracy. If you poor enough your a part of a communist system, If you our getting by your under a socialist system and if you our in the middle you our just a slave paying for everything. The next class up are just criminals who put everyone else in jail and profit from it.

No bad night for me man! Its just that christian bashers like yourself  always look for the Achilles heal of a believer to bolster thier own lack of faith in anything.......

Ok. That might be one way to look at it, but why would you fabricate an Achilles heel? Maybe, just maybe.....you are really uptight?  The example they set was certainly commendable.smile

there is a big difference between socialism and communism... communal living is not communism. before anyone says, this one was a communist or this one is a socialist, he or she should read about and understand what those two terms mean. regardless of what the Communist Party in India implies, showing images of Christ next to Marx doesn't make Christ a Communist or Marx a Christian.

I like a soft socialist system, some of my American friends call Canada Communist, no, I think Canada is a friendly dictatorship, or a hard socialist system.

My mystic feeling say Jesus is a socialist, yet most Christian act between extreme Capitalist and Communist ( Too High, then turn to poor me, syndrome)
