The bible states that god thinks he is the only god which would make him an atheist. Based on that, why would theists believe that god sends atheists to hell when they are more like him than theists are?
Atheism is the rejection of the notion of the existance of any and all deities. The fact that God believes he is the only one does not make him an atheist, but a monotheist.
I have to ask. Are you saying atheists think they are gods? That's what I get from the OP.

I have talked to many atheists and some say that atheists are people who do not believe in the concept of God. But in the past people said that atheists were people who believed that there was "no God". What actually is atheism?

Atheists often ask for proof of Jesus being the son of God. If Jesus came to earth and everyone realized He is the son of God, would you still reject Him as your saviour?
