Besides banning boxing what else can be done to reduce injuries to these athletes?
Extra padding to gloves and head protectors at all levels of the sport might add a degree of extra protection against brain damage and skull injuries
Alternately make professional boxing based on a points system not based on knockouts.
Though sadly these ideas would probably detract away from the sport that many people love.

My friends are watching boxing right now and I can't understand how they enjoy watching 2 men hit each other? And boxers, why would you willingly hurt yourself?

Excluding darts () and multi-event sports like heptathlon/decathlon.I would say rugby.

The answer is easy. If you are a top level athlete then boxing is the hardest. When training up to 12 weeks for a fight boxers run 5-7 miles per day six days a week. After running they go to the gym Spar, hit the bags...

Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer of the past 20 years without a doubt. He has never lost and has an amazing defense.
